Photo Courtesy: Delly Carr (Swimming Australia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So when her fellow competitors are introduced for this morning\u2019s 50m breaststroke heats at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, the home pool of he Southport Olympic star, the Australian record holder and defending champion, will be cheering on a new title holder.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old breaststroker, whose Olympic dream came true in Tokyo as part of the gold medal winning Australian 4x100m medley relay with <strong>Kaylee McKeon<\/strong>, <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and <strong>Cate Campbell,<\/strong> has undergone her second hip surgery \u2013 similar to what she required seven years ago.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/oceania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oceania Swimming Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cI will be out of the pool and into the cheer squad at this year\u2019s Australian Championships and Australia Trials ready to watch my fellow Dolphins smash it at the Worlds,\u201d said Hodges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year hasn\u2019t planned out how I expected but I\u2019ll be coming back stronger than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A recent <em>Instagram<\/em> post revealed her fate saying: \u201cSince January I had been rehabbing a stress fracture in my lower back\u2026..however the week I was cleared to get back to some normalcy (and) after only 200m of breaststroke I started getting some really bad pain that was very familiar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a few scans I found out I had torn my cartilage in my right hip (with) extra bone on my pelvis which requires surgery, (the same surgery) I had on my left hip, seven years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hodges coach\u00a0<strong>Sean Eels<\/strong>\u00a0has provided this update on Chelsea\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChelsea had the surgery last week and will be about 16 weeks in rehab before she can swim breaststroke again,\u201d said Eels, the man who has taken the local with the stress fracture it would had to have been a perfect eight weeks of training going into this year\u2019s Trials in June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd Chelsea isn\u2019t the type who just wants to \u2018make teams\u2019 \u2013 she wants to contribute to the medal tally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(But the good news is) she will make a full recovery and we are looking forward to some consistent training and racing opportunities towards the back end of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hodges holds the Australian and Australian All-Comers record for the 50m breaststroke she set last year at 30.15 with her fellow Olympic team member and World championship silver medallist over 200m, <strong>Jenna Strauch<\/strong> (Miami, QLD) the fastest entrant into today\u2019s eight heats.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an opening day that will also feature Australia\u2019s fastest female freestylers, Olympic champion\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong>\u00a0(Griffith University, QLD), world champion\u00a0<strong>Mollie O\u2019Callaghan<\/strong>\u00a0(St Peters Western, QLD) and four-time Olympian, former world champion and Tokyo bronze medallist\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0start her road towards what she hopes will be a fifth Olympic Games in Paris next year.<\/p>\n<p>Campbell, at 30, has joined the Swimming Australia Chandler Hub under Olympic gold medal coach\u00a0<strong>Vince Raleigh<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a squad that includes Olympic gold medallist\u00a0<strong>Zac Stubblety-Cook,<\/strong>\u00a0two-time Olympic relay medallist\u00a0<strong>Leah Neale<\/strong>\u00a0and Commonwealth Games gold medallist in the 200m butterfly,\u00a0<strong>Lizzy Dekkers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An event that has the best depth of any event in world swimming, will also see Campbell\u2019s fellow Tokyo 4x100m freestyle gold medallist\u00a0<strong>Meg Harris<\/strong>\u00a0(Marion, SA) joined by her gold medal winning teammate\u00a0<strong>Madi Wilson,\u00a0<\/strong>Commonwealth Games announced her return to the pool for a Paris tilt.<\/p>\n<p>Bronte will be guided and overseen by Olympic gold medal winning coach\u00a0<strong>Shannon Rollason<\/strong>\u00a0at the NSW Swimming ACT Hub in Canberrra \u2013 the man who coached\u00a0<strong>Jodie Henry<\/strong>\u00a0to 100m Olympic gold in Athens in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Campbell will also spend time training in the Sydney-based
