NCAA Women’s Championships: Titles to Be Decided on Final Day (Heat Sheets)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NCAA Women’s Championships will conclude Sunday, and the final day of preliminary action from Knoxville, Tenn., will begin at 10 a.m. ET with racing in the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n

The 200 back is a stacked field led by Stanford’s\u00a0Claire Curzan<\/strong>, with 2021 champion and 200-meter back World Championships silver medalist\u00a0Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> of Wisconsin looming as the biggest threat. The circle-seeded heats also include World Champs bronze medalist\u00a0Rhyan White<\/strong> and consistent Cal veteran\u00a0Isabelle Stadden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Next up, a pair of record-breakers from this meet will set up a clash in the 100 free, with Virginia’s\u00a0Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and LSU’s\u00a0Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> each holding lane four in their respective heats. Stanford’s\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong>, the World Championships bronze medalist in the 100-meter free, looms.<\/p>\n

In the 200 breaststroke,\u00a0Kate Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>of Virginia will aim for her third win of the meet, and she is the overwhelming favorite after breaking the American and NCAA records twice already this season. And Douglass is clearly on form after she crushed records in the 200 IM and 100 fly already. Texas swimmers Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> and\u00a0Anna Elendt<\/strong> will swim next to each other in the second-to-last heat, while Tennessee’s\u00a0Mona McSharry<\/strong> is the top seed in the first seeded heat. Jacoby won the 100 breast Friday by a close margin over McSharry and Elendt.<\/p>\n

Finally, Texas will have the top three seeds in the 200 fly with\u00a0Emma Sticklen<\/strong>,\u00a0Kelly Pash<\/strong> and Dakota Luther<\/strong>, and the Longhorns are sure to score big points, but defending champion Alex Walsh<\/strong> of Virginia will surely be a factor despite swimming in a non-circle-seeded heat.<\/p>\n

The final will also include platform diving, with qualification set to begin in the early afternoon, as well as timed finals in the 1650 free and 400 free relay.<\/p>\n
