After day 1 of the meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, the Eagles are laying the groundwork for a repeat.<\/p>\n<p>Emory capped a first day in the lead by setting the NCAA record in the men\u2019s 200 medley relay Wednesday night. The sophomore went 4:48.38 to best her classmate Wisner, second in 4:49.84. Cornish was slightly quicker than the 4:48.55 Wisner used last year to win.<\/p>\n<p>Cornish was second in that race and later bested Wisner in the mile a season ago.<\/p>\n<p>Denison profited on the points side. <strong>Tara Witkowski<\/strong> finished third for the second straight season, and freshman <strong>Emily Harris<\/strong> was fifth. The new blood filling that void is the only underclassmen to have been in the top six last year, Williams\u2019 <strong>Sophia Verkleeren.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From fourth, the sophomore rose to the top step of the podium. She was the only swimmer to break two minutes in 1:59.47.<\/p>\n<p>Hope College\u2019s <strong>Greta Gidley<\/strong> finished second, with <strong>Lily Klinginsmith<\/strong> of Tufts third. The University of Chicago sophomore repeated as champion in 1:45.65, nearly a half-second quicker than he was last year.<\/p>\n<p>MIT\u2019s <strong>Jaden Lou<\/strong> was part of a podium sweep by juniors, going 1:46.99. <strong>Alex McCormick<\/strong> of Washington University finished third in 1:47.18.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 50 freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>In a final featuring six seniors, it was a youngster who led the way. NYU freshman <strong>Kaley McIntyre<\/strong> was quickest in the morning and held off the field at night, clocking in at 22.78 seconds in both swims. Wednesday, he was on top in emphatic fashion, dropping a 19.48 in the final to best the field by .29 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Bates\u2019 <strong>Nathaniel Berry<\/strong> finished second in 19.77.
