Ahead of the field by almost one second after just 50 yards and almost two seconds after her first 100, Trieschmann pulled away to win by more than 10 seconds. She touched in 9:43.25, and in the process, she knocked almost a half-second off her own Division II national record of 9:43.69 set last month.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Fox<\/strong> placed second in 9:53.61, dropping more than seven seconds from her entry time, while Wingate&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Agger<\/strong> held off a late charge from Wayne State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Allison Vassilakos<\/strong> to take third. women&#8217;s 40-lapper, Indy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cedric Buessing<\/strong> had the most energy left over the final 100 yards to pull away from his competition and secure the national title in 8:55.88. Early on, Buessing received challenges from Tampa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hayden Curley<\/strong> and Grand Valley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eric Hieber<\/strong>, and Buessing and Curley made the break from Hieber around the halfway point, Oklahoma Christian&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Victor Rosado<\/strong> got back into the mix with the remaining leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The three men were within two tenths of each other with 200 yards remaining, but that&#8217;s when Buessing found his next gear to take off for the win. Rosado, who actually negative split the race, took second in 8:56.94, and Curley finished in 8:58.22 for third. was a Nova Southeastern underclassman earning the win as\u00a0<strong>Emilia Ronningdal<\/strong> pulled away on breastststroke and freestyle to secure the title. Ronningdal, who was part of Nova&#8217;s winning 800 free relay Tuesday night, finished in 1:57.78, which was 1.62 seconds clear of runnerup\u00a0<strong>Aurora Duncan<\/strong> of Drury. Sampson, who entered the meet with a seed time of 1:43.76, was well out ahead of the field on the front half, but Florida Southern&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matteo Zampese<\/strong> closed the gap on breastastroke. On freestyle, Tampa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Santiago Corredor<\/strong> closed in an absurd 24.35 split, which was enough to deny Drury&#8217;s <strong>Andrew Rodriguez<\/strong> a spot in the top three, but Sampson and Zampese were far enough ahead. Sampson won in 1:44.33, followed by Zampese&#8217;s 1:45.06 and Corredor&#8217;s 1:45.48. Nova led by more than a second at the halfway point before when Buys split 23.88 on the butterfly leg of Indy&#8217;s relay to leave her team nine tenths off the pace.
