The award, selected by the CSCAA board of directors, recognizes a swimming or diving graduate who has achieved success outside of the pool.<\/p>\n

Kirk Sell was a 16-time All-American and 11-time NCAA Champion at Stanford. She won a silver medal in the 400 medley relay at the 2004 Olympics in Athens among a long national-team career.<\/p>\n

Kirk Sell received her Ph.D., from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in health policy and management. She is a professor at the Bloomberg School in the Department of Health and Engineering and a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think back on my time at Stanford as a time of great joy,\u201d Kirk Sell said in a press release Wednesday<\/a>. \u201cThere were things to get done, and I was doing them\u2026 I also loved the camaraderie of being with my team and, of course, the winning. You don’t realize that there are not the same opportunities to win once you head out into the real world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of us are aware of Dr. Sell\u2019s accomplishments as a swimmer, but the McCaffree Award spotlights the impressive impact she is having through her work in the public health and biosecurity field,\u201d CSCAA Executive Director Samantha Barany<\/strong> said. \u201cTara demonstrates the spirit of the Charles McCaffree Award perfectly, and I am thrilled the CSCAA will recognize this outstanding community member for the work she is doing outside of the pool.\u201d<\/p>\n
