2023 Big Ten Men\u2019s Championships, Night 4: Brendan Burns Swims Country’s Fastest 200 Back and 200 Fly; Indiana Wins Title<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the final night of the Big Ten Men’s Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., Indiana pulled away from Ohio State to clinch the conference title. Indiana entered the day leading by 106 points before Ohio State’s Charlie Clark<\/strong> opened the session with a win in the 1650 freestyle as part of a 1-6-8-9 finish for his team, but Indiana fired back in the next event as Brendan Burns<\/strong> popped the country’s fastest time thus far in the 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n

While Ohio State earned a second individual win in the 100 freestyle (Ruslan Gaziev<\/strong>), Indiana then went 2-3-4-5 in the 200 breaststroke behind champion\u00a0Max McHugh<\/strong> of Minnesota before Burns returned in the 200 butterfly and swam the fastest time in the country in that event as well. The senior’s monster performance helped put Indiana up by more than 300 points in the standings and secure the team title, with Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n
