Thursday, Florida\u2019s <strong>Emma Weyant<\/strong> swam away from her, booking an A cut in 4:01.18. It\u2019s the Olympic silver medalist\u2019s first season in Gainesville after swimming at the University of Virginia. Her time is an NCAA A cut.<\/p>\n<p>That consigned the senior Poole to second, in 4:04.62. Texas A&amp;M\u2019s German international <strong>Giulia Goerigk<\/strong> was third in 4:06.84. That\u2019s an SEC record, erasing the 49.38 that <strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> had set in 2020. It also takes down Brown\u2019s pool mark from 2018. And it was two-plus seconds in front of the field, the entire field a body length behind her when she turned for home. MacNeil is the first LSU woman to win three golds at an SEC meet since 1993 (Lucy Findlay).<\/p>\n<p>The best of the rest was <strong>Meghan Lee<\/strong> of Auburn, who turned in a time of 51.01. <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> brought the outside smoke to go from eighth in prelims to third in 51.47. It denied <strong>Jordan Crooks<\/strong> another title, the Tennessee sophomore finishing second in 44.37, also an A cut (he had been 44.04 in prelims).<\/p>\n<p>Third was Frenchman <strong>Clement Sacchi<\/strong> of Missouri in 45.08. Second was Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Chloe Stepanek,<\/strong> in 1:43.77. That duo finished second and third, respectively, last season, and Stepanek was second as a freshman. Douthwright turned around from finishing 12th in the 100 fly an event earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Then came the Floridians, solidifying the Gators\u2019 hold on the team lead. <strong>Micayla Cronk<\/strong> finished third in 1:43.77, six tenths ahead of teammate <strong>Talia Bates.
