With Carmel High School breaking a pair of national high-school records over the weekend at the Indiana State Championships, what Cherry Creek pulled off at the Colorado 5A Champs went overlooked. On the way to a third consecutive team title, the perennial powerhouse program clocked the No. 3 time in scholastic history in the 200-yard freestyle relay.<\/p>\n

The foursome of Alexis Greenhawt<\/strong>, Lawson Ficken<\/strong>, Ana Loveridge<\/strong> and Charlotte Wilson<\/strong> combined for a time of 1:30.81 in the 200 free relay. That performance was just .09 off the national record of 1:30.72, set by Carmel in 2015. However, Carmel lowered its national standard even further at the Indiana University Natatorium, going 1:30.23<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Greenhawt opened for Cherry Creek in 23.02 while Ficken followed with a split of 22.07. Loveridge checked in with a leg of 22.94 and Wilson closed out the victory in 22.78. Ficken and Greenhawt were the gold and silver medalists, respectively, in the 50 freestyle. Ficken touched the wall in 22.64, with Greenhawt producing a time of 22.82.<\/p>\n

Cherry Creek also won the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay and received individual titles from Ficken in the 100 freestyle (48.77) and Wilson in the 100 backstroke (52.95).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
