{"id":522187,"date":"2023-02-08T15:38:19","date_gmt":"2023-02-08T22:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=522187"},"modified":"2023-02-08T15:38:19","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T22:38:19","slug":"wisconsin-claims-five-of-six-weekly-big-ten-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wisconsin-claims-five-of-six-weekly-big-ten-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin Claims Five of Six Weekly Big Ten Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Wisconsin Claims Five of Six Weekly Big Ten Honors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin took home five of the six weekly Big Ten Honors, announced by the conference <a href=\"https:\/\/bigten.org\/news\/2023\/2\/8\/general-penn-state-and-wisconsin-gather-swimming-diving-weekly-awards.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The men <a href=\"https:\/\/bigten.org\/news\/2023\/2\/8\/general-wisconsin-sweeps-mens-swimming-diving-weekly-awards.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swept all three<\/a>, with <strong>Ben Weigand<\/strong> as the top swimmer, <strong>Daniel Muller<\/strong> the diver and <strong>Dominik Mark Torok<\/strong> the freshman. <strong>Mallory Jump<\/strong> is the women\u2019s swimmer of the week, with <strong>Hazal Ozkan<\/strong> as the top freshman. Penn State broke the Badger blockade via diver <strong>Wei Wei.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jump won the 200 individual medley and was part of the winning 200 medley relay for the Badgers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wisconsin-swimming-sweeps-green-bay-on-senior-night\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a win over Wisconsin-Green Bay<\/a>. The senior from Illinois went 2:01.75 in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Ozkan, a native of Turkey, was third in that 200 IM. She also joined Jump on the winning medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Weigand, a redshirt freshman, picked up a win in the 100 freestyle in a tie of 44.21 seconds. He also added a place on the 200 medley relay, which went 1:24.54.<\/p>\n<p>Torok won an event for the fourth straight meet, earning his third freshman of the week honor. The Hungarian went 1:58.55 to win the 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Muller, a junior from Arizona, won both diving events. He scored 367.88 to win 1-meter and 339.15 to claim 3-meter, both Zone qualifying scores. It\u2019s his first career inclusion in the weekly Big Ten Honors.<\/p>\n<p>Wei, a senior, competed with the Nittany Lions against West Virginia in a diving-only meet.
