{"id":521828,"date":"2023-01-28T20:09:05","date_gmt":"2023-01-29T03:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=521828"},"modified":"2023-01-28T20:22:38","modified_gmt":"2023-01-29T03:22:38","slug":"stanford-women-swim-past-usc-in-pac-12-battle-of-top-10-teams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-women-swim-past-usc-in-pac-12-battle-of-top-10-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford Women Swim Past USC in Pac-12 Battle of Top 10 Teams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Stanford Women Swim Past USC in Pac-12 Battle of Top 10 Teams<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Stanford women&#8217;s swimming and diving team defeated USC in a battle of top 10 teams in the country on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The third-ranked Cardinal topped the No. 10 Trojans 175-123.<\/p>\n<p>No. 3 Stanford opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay. <strong>Claire Curzan, Allie Raab, Emma Wheal<\/strong> and <strong>Amy Tang<\/strong> won the event in 1:39.02, holding off USC&#8217;s<strong> Caroline Famous, Kaitlyn Dobler<\/strong>, <strong>Anicka Delgado<\/strong> and <strong>Elise Garcia<\/strong> (1:40.10).<\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Aurora Roghair<\/strong> won the 1000 free (9:53.66), holding off USC&#8217;s<strong> Justina Kozan<\/strong> (10:01.03). Roghair also won the 500 free (4:48.10).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More College News<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/usctrojans.com\/documents\/2023\/1\/28\/2023_usc___stanford_womens_meet_results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stanford went 1-2-3 in the 200 free with <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> (1:46.30), <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> (1:47.77) and <strong>Natalie Mannion<\/strong> (1:48.03).<\/p>\n<p>Curzan won the 100 backstroke in 51.51. Huske (50.99) and Curzan (51.15) went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly with Wheal (53.67) taking third.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Charlotte Hook<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly (1:56.84). Wheal won the 50 free in 22.95, ahead of Tang (23.01) and Delgado (23.07). Tang won the 100 free (49.85) ahead of Delgado (50.12) and Ruck (50.23). <strong>Alexandra Crisera<\/strong> won the 200 backstroke (1:58.04).<\/p>\n<p>Curzan, Huske, Tang and Ruck won the 400 free relay in 3:15.15.<\/p>\n<p>In one of the closest events of the meet, Stanford&#8217;s<strong> Lucy Bell<\/strong> won the 200 IM in 1:59.80, ahead of USC&#8217;s<strong> Isabelle Odgers<\/strong> (1:59.84).<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s<strong> Kaitlyn Dobler<\/strong> led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke. The defending NCAA champion won the race in 1:00.77, followed by Odgers (1:02.15) and <strong>Katherine Adams<\/strong> (1:02.79). Odgers won the 200 breaststroke (2:11.46), going 1-2 with Adams (2:14.72).<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s <strong>Nika Agunbiade<\/strong> and <strong>Carolina Sculti<\/strong> tied for the win on 1-meter diving with 307.40 points apiece.
