Swim Ireland<\/strong> has set up its first Athletes’ Commission for Swimming, Para Swimming and Diving, co-chaired by Olympians Gr\u00e1inne Murphy<\/strong> and Nicholas Quinn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Commission was appointed in 2022 with the first in-person meeting taking place last month and it will act as a consultative body of Swim Ireland and a voice for Irish athletes within these aquatic disciplines with a Commission for water polo athletes to follow later this year.<\/p>\n

A release from Swim Ireland said:<\/p>\n

“It will ensure that strong channels of communication are in place for athlete-specific issues at the appropriate level and that the athletes\u2019 views are heard and considered in Swim Ireland decision-making.<\/p>\n

“The Commission will also ensure respect for the rights and well-being of the Athletes and to draw up recommendations to that effect as required.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
