{"id":521304,"date":"2023-01-17T09:21:22","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T16:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=521304"},"modified":"2023-01-17T13:51:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T20:51:41","slug":"swim-documentary-unsinkable-completes-busy-2022-festival-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swim-documentary-unsinkable-completes-busy-2022-festival-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Swim Documentary \u2018Unsinkable\u2019 Completes Busy 2022 Festival Season\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Swim Documentary \u2018Unsinkable\u2019 Completes Busy 2022 Festival Season\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The swimming documentary \u2018Unsinkable,\u2019 released in 2022, has completed a busy run through film festivals in 2022, a tour that will continue through the spring of 2023.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/documentary-unsinkable-recaps-alan-corcorans-swim-around-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The film<\/a> documents <strong>Alan Corcoran\u2019s<\/strong> attempt to swim the 500-kilometer length of Ireland, a feat he undertook for charity in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The film won the best feature documentary award at the 2022 Prague International Film Festival. It was granted an Outstanding Excellence Award at the Docs Without Borders festival in the United States and garnered the second jury\u2019s award for documentary feature at the Wales International Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>It has been accepted to festivals in France, Luxembourg and Australia.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"vimeo-player\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/674381953?h=b38cc06301\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The film was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1616467730\/unsinkable-a-500-kilometre-irish-sea-swim-for-charity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded via Kickstarter<\/a>. The swim (and film) are part of a mission to raise funds and awareness to support stroke and cancer charities. (Corcoran\u2019s father Milo died in 2016 after suffering a stroke. He was also battling cancer at the time.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Unsinkable&#8217; provides another glimpse at swimming on the big screen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/the-swimmers-film-on-mardini-sisters-to-get-september-festival-debut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paired with the 2022 Netflix release<\/a> of &#8216;The Swimmers.&#8217;<\/p>\n<h4>&#8216;Unsinkable&#8217; festival entries<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Prague International Film Festival 2022 (<a
