Notre Dame\u2019s women\u2019s team routed Navy.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s Scores<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No. 23 Notre Dame 208, Princeton 145<\/li>\n<li>No. 23 Notre Dame 234, Navy 119<\/li>\n<li>Princeton 252, Navy 101<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Women\u2019s Scores<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Princeton 188, Notre Dame 165<\/li>\n<li>Princeton 278, Navy 75<\/li>\n<li>Notre Dame 279, Navy 74<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Tigers made an early statement of intent from the very first individual event, sweeping the top three spots in the 400 individual medley. <strong>Ellie Marquardt<\/strong> led the trio with a time of 4:16.81, teammates <strong>Emily Appleton<\/strong> and <strong>Meg Wheeler<\/strong> following.<\/p>\n<p>It was a preview of how the Tigers would start the Saturday session, with a pair of 1-2 finishes bookended a podium sweep in the 200 backstroke. Wheeler was involved again, winning the latter event in 1:57.52. Teammates <strong>Isabella Korbly<\/strong> and <strong>Liza Whitmire<\/strong> followed her.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/notre-dame-princeton-at-navy-2023\/ncaa-college\/2023\/January\/13?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/acc-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACC Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/ivy-league-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ivy League Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nikki Venema<\/strong> was the thick of it both days, following up the 400 IM on Friday by winning the 200 freestyle in 1:46.35. She added the 100 free crown on Saturday and was second in the 100 butterfly. <strong>Eliza Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Margaux McDonald<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday to parlay the momentum. Brown also won the 200 IM and was third in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n<p>Korbly won Friday\u2019s 100 back. Appleton was second in the 100 free. Princeton won both freestyle relays, with<strong> Sabrina Johnston, Heidi Smithwick<\/strong> and <strong>Amelia Liu<\/strong> on both. In the 200 free relay, it took Liu and <strong>Elzbieta Noble<\/strong> splitting 22.3s to rally to a narrow win. Venema handled anchoring duties on the 400 free relay. Johnston won the 50 free in 23.00, with Liu second, and took second to Venema in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Diving also provided a boost to the Tigers. Freshman <strong>Charlotte Martinkus<\/strong> lowered <a href=\"https:\/\/goprincetontigers.com\/news\/2023\/1\/13\/womens-swimming-and-diving-martinkus-breaks-1-meter-record-at-navy-tri-meet-with-notre-dame.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her school record on 1-meter Friday<\/a>, scoring 328.50. It\u2019s also a Lejeune Hall record. Martinkus won 3-meter with a tally of 317.15.<\/p>\n<p>Much of what worked for Notre Dame involved the Gillilan sisters. <strong>Coleen Gillilan<\/strong> won the 100 breast on Friday, a 1-2 finish with teammate <strong>Ellie Jew,<\/strong> in 1:00.59. An event later, <strong>Renee Gillilan<\/strong> was second to teammate <strong>Megan Deuel<\/strong> in the 200 fly. Coleen Gillilan won the 100 fly on Saturday, with Renee Gillilan claiming the runner-up spot in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Coleen Gillilan was on both winning Notre Dame medley relays, with <strong>Jess Geriane<\/strong> and Jew on both. The Irish\u2019s distance contingent had a strong showing, with <strong>Maggie Graves<\/strong> winning the 1,650 free ahead of <strong>Mary Cate Pruitt,<\/strong> who won the 500 free with Graves third.<\/p>\n<p>Navy\u2019s best finish on the women\u2019s side came in the 200 free, where <strong>Cameron Horner<\/strong> finished second.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, Notre Dame dominated at both extremes, with the meet\u2019s top sprinter and the distance standout.<\/p>\n<p>The former was <strong>Chris Guiliano.<\/strong> He won the 50 free in a decisive 19.53, a margin of six tenths. The margin was nearly as emphatic in the 100 free, his winning time of 42.75 getting him 1.14 clear of the field. Guiliano also led off the Irish\u2019s winning 200 free and 400 free relays and anchored the victorious 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>At the other side of the spectrum was the equally dominant <strong>Jack Hoagland.<\/strong> He won the 400 IM (3:43.06) and the 1,650 free (14:55.28) on an impressive Friday double. Saturday, his 500 free time of 4:16.78 blitzed the field by more than eight seconds. He also swam on the 400 free relay squad.<\/p>\n<p>Notre Dame\u2019s <strong>Tommy Janton<\/strong> and <strong>Kaden Smesko<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 100 back, then Janton won Saturday\u2019s 200 back ahead of teammate <strong>Marcus Gentry. Cason Wilburn<\/strong> claimed a tight race in the 100 fly. <strong>Daniel Knapp<\/strong> and <strong>Ben Nguyen<\/strong> went 1-2 in both diving events.<\/p>\n<p>A convincing case could be made for <strong>Raunak Khosla<\/strong> as the swimmer of the meet. The Princeton senior went 1:54.17, <a href=\"https:\/\/goprincetontigers.com\/news\/2023\/1\/14\/mens-swimming-and-diving-mens-swimming-diving-splits-tri-meet-with-navy-no-23-notre-dame.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">setting a program record in the 200 breast<\/a>. It\u2019s also a Navy pool record. Khosla won the 200 fly (in a 1-2 with <strong>Nicholas Lim<\/strong>) and the 200 IM (with teammate<strong> Tyler Hong<\/strong> second) and was second to Hoagland in the 400 IM. Khosla also swam on the Tigers\u2019 winning 400 medley relay, with Hong, Lim and <strong>Max Walther<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitchell Schott<\/strong> won the 200 free for the Tigers. <strong>Dylan Porges<\/strong> was second to Hoagland in the 400 IM and mile. Walther was second in the 50 free and 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Navy picked up a win via <strong>Jackson Schultz<\/strong> in the 100 breast. He was also second in the 200 breast and third in the 200 IM. Teammate <strong>Jonah Harm<\/strong> was second in the 100 fly, as was <strong>Everet Andrew<\/strong> in the 200 free<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Princeton Jumps on Notre
