That\u2019s the fifth-fastest time on the Cardinal this season, though well off his personal best of 41.09 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2022-ncaa-mens-championships-stanfords-andrei-minakov-holds-off-field-to-win-100-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reigning NCAA champion in the 100 butterfly<\/a> finished second in that event, his time of 48.29 behind the winning 47.27 of <strong>Rafael Gu.<\/strong> Minakov also split 20.52 in butterfly on the winning A medley relay squad.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/pac-12-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pac-12 Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimingworldmagazine.com\/results\/pacific-vs-stanford-2023\/ncaa-college\/2023\/January\/13?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A redshirt sophomore, Minakov didn\u2019t swim in the fall. His last meet of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/led-by-andrei-minakov-u-s-nationals-will-feature-strong-international-flavor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">significance was U.S. Nationals in August<\/a>. A native of St. Petersburg, his opportunities to swim internationally have been limited by bans against Russian swimmers since the spring of 2022 over the country\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinal faced little resistance in racking up their ninth straight dual-meet victory, dating to the fall of 2021. Gu won the 100 back in addition to the 100 fly. <strong>Ron Polonsky<\/strong> won the 200 fly and 200 breaststroke. <strong>Luke Maurer,<\/strong> who anchored the winning 200 medley relay, won the 200 individual medley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liam Custer<\/strong> (1,650 free), <strong>Neel Roy<\/strong> (200 free), <strong>Hayden Zheng<\/strong> (100 breast), <strong>Avery Voss<\/strong> (100 free), <strong>Hayden Kwan<\/strong> (200 back) and <strong>Andrew Matejka<\/strong> (500 free) also picked up wins. <strong>Leon MacAlister<\/strong> was second in the 50 free and 500 free, <strong>Josh Zuchowski<\/strong> the runner-up in both backstroke events.
