Fourth was <strong>Simone Manuel,<\/strong> who went 25.48 in her return to action.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2022-tyr-pro-swim-series-knoxville\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Coverage Home<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swmeets.com\/Realtime\/Pro%20Series\/2023\/Knoxville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The women\u2019s TYR Pro Swim Series Knoxville Day 3 action:<\/p>\n<h4>200 Butterfly<\/h4>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s <strong>Sara Stolter<\/strong> took advantage of home water to set the pace in prelims in 2:13.01. That was nearly a second quicker than <strong>Katie Grimes,<\/strong> who went 2:13.92. <strong>Lainey Mullins<\/strong> and Canadian <strong>Ella Jansen<\/strong> were among the all-teen top eight.<\/p>\n<p>Not among those swimming was <strong>Regan Smith,<\/strong> who had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/tyr-pro-series-knoxville-psych-sheets\/usa-senior-national\/2023\/January\/11?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the top seed on the psych sheets<\/a>. <strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> also scratched the swim.<\/p>\n<h4>50 Freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>The 200 fly\u2019s abundance of youth was met by the stocks of experience in the\u00a0 50 free, with six of the top nine finishers well into their 20s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> led the way in 24.70, leading out what would be a pretty suitable international American relay. Second was <strong>Erika Brown,<\/strong> swimming in her home pool, in 25.05. <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> was .02 ahead of <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> for third, and Danish Olympian <strong>Signe Bro<\/strong> was fifth.<\/p>\n<p>The eighth spot in the final went to <strong>Erin Gemmell<\/strong> in 25.83, .05 up on <strong>Natalie Hinds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>100 Backstroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> set up an Olympic-level showdown in the 100 back by setting the standard in 59.70 seconds. That\u2019s just ahead of Canadian Olympian <strong>Kylie Masse,<\/strong> who went 1:00.18. (Regan Smith was not entered in this event, despite holding the American record.) <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> bounced back quickly to set the fourth-best time in 1:01.69, a half-second behind Tennessee\u2019s <strong>Josephine Fuller<\/strong> and just ahead of <strong>Bella Sims.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>200 Breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p>The home-pool advantage was borne out here, with three Volunteers in the top four. <strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong> led the way in 2:28.51, the Irish Olympian out front by nearly two seconds. Second was her teammate <strong>Alexis Yager,<\/strong> with <strong>Tessa Cieplucha<\/strong> fourth. Ahead of Cieplucha was a fellow Canadian, <strong>Sophie Agnus,<\/strong> in third.<\/p>\n<h4>50 Butterfly<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> recovered to boss prelims of the 50 fly in 26.58, establishing the 26-year-old as the top seed by nearly a second. <strong>Marina Spadoni<\/strong> was second in 27.46, followed by <strong>Grace Hanson.<\/strong> The final eight will feature a 29-year-old (Spadoni) and a 14-year-old (<strong>Charlotte Crush<\/strong>, fourth in 27.55).<\/p>\n<h4>400 Freestyle<\/h4>\n<p>Another day, another chance to watch <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> and <strong>Katie Grimes<\/strong> duke it out.<\/p>\n<p>In prelims, it wasn\u2019t much of a match, Ledecky setting the top time in 4:05.15. Grimes is second in 4:11.32, one of three 4:11s that also includes <strong>Jillian Cox<\/strong> and Olympian <strong>Bella Sims.
