ITHACA, New York, March 21. UPPER Valley Aquatic Club’s Hannah Cox won the 200 free and the 400 IM on a fast night at the Speedo Ithaca Sectionals.<\/p>\n
Cox won the 200 free with a personal best time of 1:47.31. Jersey Gators’ Caroline Wilson touched in 1:47.85 for second. Isabel Reis of Seacoast Swimming Association put up a personal best of 1:49.05 for third.<\/p>\n
Cox won the 400 IM as well, setting a new personal best with her first place time of 4:17.48. Jennifer Marrkand of Patriot Swim Club, who will swim at the University of Virginia, clocked in at 4:18.67 for second. Caroline Wilson took third with a time of 4:21.07.<\/p>\n
Drew Modrov of the Hauppauge Athletic Association won the men’s 200 free with a 1:37.28. David Gleason of New York City Aquatic Club posted a personal best for second with a 1:38.08. Robert Whitacre of Central Jersey Aquatic Club, a Notre Dame recruit, placed third with a personal best time of 1:40.19.<\/p>\n
Fourteen-year old Margaret Aroesty of Long Beach Aquatics touched in 1:02.94 to win the women’s 100 breast with a personal best. Cornell’s Kimberly Jerome hit the wall in 1:03.31, just ahead of the Aquabears’ Eva Crouse, who put up a personal best of 1:03.37 for third.<\/p>\n
Brian Poon of Phoenix Swimming posted a personal best of 56.47 to win the men’s 100 back. Christopher Downing of Charles River Aquatics took second with a personal best time of 57.14. Eric Delmonte of the Portland Porpoises, who has committed to Virginia Tech, clocked in at 57.22 for third.<\/p>\n
Isabel Reis won the women’s 100 fly with a 53.97. Jennifer Marrkand touched in 54.58 for second. Helen Grossman of Central Jersey Aquatic Club posted a personal best time of 54.99 to take third place.<\/p>\n
Tim Cabasino of Long Beach Aquatics put up a personal best time of 48.80 to win the men’s 100 fly. Matthew Grauslys of Executive Swim Club clocked in at 49.38 for second. Edwin Angjeli, who swims at Boston University, touched in 49.58 for third.<\/p>\n
Cornell University’s Dylan Sali won the men’s 400 IM with a time of 3:54.80. The Aquabears’ John Scobee posted a personal best time of 3:58.66 for second. Christopher Wang of Scarlet Aquatics, who has committed to Virginia Tech, placed third with a time of 4:02.07.<\/p>\n
Seacoast Swimming Association’s women (Isabel Reis, Sydnee Aubin, Emma Whall, Kyra Sarazen) won the 800 free relay with a time of 7:31.55. Upper Valley Aquatic Club (Hannah Cox, Nell Houde, Kersten Dirrane, Elisabeth Brechbuhl) took second with a 7:34.67. Central Jersey Aquatic Club (Caroline Gmelich, Kathryn Petrone, Hannah Elliot, Katie Hammond) touched third with a time of 7:37.54.<\/p>\n
New York City Aquatic Club’s men (David Gleason, Nicholas Konovalov, Andrew Raiola, George Tilneac) closed out the night with a win in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:49.78. Phoenix Swimming (Brian Poon, Joseph Turk, James Allen, Yunseo Jung) placed second with a 6:51.69.
