ORLANDO, Florida, March 21. BOTH the women\u2019s and men\u2019s 200 breaststrokes were exciting events on the fourth night of the NCSA Junior National Championships.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s 200 Breaststroke:<\/p>\n
After placing second in the 100 breaststroke, Marin Pirates\u2019 Riley Scott settled for nothing less than the win in the 200 breaststroke. Scott was out first in a 29.50 at the 50, but held back her speed until the back half of the race. Katherine Drabot, the 400 IM winner, actually turned first at the 100 with a 1:02.84. Drabot didn\u2019t hold on to her lead long, however, as Scott built her lead going into the 150 and was a half-body length ahead of the competition by the final 25.<\/p>\n
Scott won the event in a 2:11.18, a full second faster than her preliminary swim. \u201cI was really excited to do the 200 after doing so well in the 100 before,\u201d said Scott, commenting on her second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. \u201cI always try to work the third 50 in that race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Men\u2019s 200 Breaststroke:<\/p>\n
Nations Capital\u2019s Andrew Seliskar made a huge splash in the finals of his first individual event of the NCSA Junior National Championships. The 17-year-old chased down Kevin Cordes\u2019 1:53.55 17-18 National Age Group record, winning the event with a 1:52.21. Seliskar qualified first for the A final by swimming a personal best in the prelims (1:54.32).<\/p>\n
\u201cI really tried to push the back half. I was really happy with my time, too,\u201d Seliskar told Swimming World after the race. \u201cI had the goal of going out to get a 1:52 in mind, but I was a little surprised with the time.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
