The Cincinnati Marlins parent board unanimously voted to appoint Brandon Voorhies<\/strong> as team Head Coach and CEO, effective immediately.<\/p>\n

Voorhies joined the Cincinnati Marlins as Senior Program Director in the summer of 2021 and quickly made positive impact on team performance and culture. During his first year on deck, Voorhies coached 44 top 10 all-time Marlin performances along with numerous top eight finishes at Ohio Junior Olympics.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Voorhies coached at both Long Course and Short Course USA Swimming Junior Nationals and, in October 2022, one of his swimmers was selected to attend the prestigious USA Swimming Select Camp at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. ABOUT BRANDON VOORHIES<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the Cincinnati Marlins, Voorhies was recognized regionally as an up-and-coming standout coach with multiple USA Swimming, YMCA and Ohio High School Athletic Association teams. During his tenure with Countryside YMCA, Voorhies coached swimmers to 39 team record performances, 33 top 10 finishes in USA Swimming and coached numerous 13-14 age group swimmers to achieve 41 YMCA National time standards. Voorhies designed and implemented an athlete development model which created a progression plan for athletes from ages 8 and under through graduation. He was invited to present on this topic at the 2020 USA Swimming Head Age Group Coaches Conference on Club Development.<\/p>\n

Voorhies was awarded Cincinnati Enquirer Swim Coach of the Year in 2019 for coaching the Indian Hill High School Team to its 2018 and 2019 Boys District Championships and 2019 Girls District Champions.<\/p>\n

Voorhies was a six-time YMCA National qualifier swimmer and attended The Ohio State University, swimming for their College Club Swimming (CCS) team. Voorhies also served consecutively as team vice president and president. Under his leadership, membership grew from 45 to more than 150 members. He also led his team to attend the College Club National Championship, resulting in combined men\u2019s and women\u2019s team finishes of 5th in year one, 3rd in year two and 1st in year three. Voorhies was selected to join the CCS Advisory Board and lead an effort to create a structure and governance to grow club swimming nationally. This effort resulted in growing the national CCS program to 159 registered clubs with over 5,000 swimmers.<\/p>\n

When he is not on deck, Voorhies and his wife Kat enjoy traveling during the offseason and exploring new restaurants in the Cincinnati area. He is looking forward to the upcoming Olympic Trials and preparing the Marlins swimmers to excel at Trials, their peak championship meet or future opportunities outside of the pool.<\/p>\n
