But the Swimmers of the Meet went to Canada\u2019s <strong>Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> and USA\u2019s <strong>Ryan Murphy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murphy swept the three backstroke events, becoming the first swimmer to ever<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-day-six-mens-finals-ryan-murphy-headlines-gold-silver-for-team-usa-in-200-backstroke-with-shaine-casas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> accomplish that feat<\/a> a a short-course world championships.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Murphy earned gold medals in the 400 medley relay and 200 mixed medley relay as well as a silver in the men\u2019s 200 medley relay giving him a haul of five gold medals and one silver.<\/p>\n<p>He won the 100 backstroke in 48.50, a championship record. He won the 50 backstroke in 22.64 and the 200 in 1:41.41.<\/p>\n<p>Mac Neil earned gold medals in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly. She tied USA\u2019s<strong> Torri Huske<\/strong> for the 50 butterfly title in 24.64. Mac Neil then won the 50 backstroke in a world record time of 25.25. She capped off her individual performances with a gold in the 100 butterfly at 54.05, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-day-six-womens-finals-maggie-mac-neil-goes-54-05-to-add-100-fly-wr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">another world record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She also as part of bronze medals for Canada at the World Championships in the 400 free relay, 400 medley relay and mixed 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Mac Neil had the highest point total for an individual swim with 1,030 fo her 100 butterfly. She also had the fourth best at 1,002 for her 50 backstroke. Combined with her 18th for the 50 butterfly, she had the highest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/news\/2987052\/record-setting-fina-world-swimming-championships-25m-helps-usher-in-new-era-of-aquatics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FINA<\/a> point total of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The highest point total for a men\u2019s solo swim was <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> in the 200 butterfly, earning 999 FINA points.
