Lilly King Makes It A 1-2 Finish For US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Day 4: Kate Douglass Strikes Gold Medal No 4 In the 200m Breaststroke and Lilly King Makes It A 1-2 Finish To The US<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>U.S. star <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> has timed her finish to perfect to smash a 10-year-old Championship record with an impressive win over American team mate <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> in a stunning 1-2 finish in the 200m breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old hit the lead at the 125m mark after King had set a cracking pace through the first 100m and was never headed as she charged to her fourth gold medal over four spectacular nights at the Melbourne Sports And Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-world-short-course-championships-day-4-day-4\/international-elite\/2022\/December\/16?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 4 Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2022\/16th-fina-world-swimming-championships-25m-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>She clocked a time of 2:15.77 to take 0.31 off the previous mark held since Istanbul in 2012 b y Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Rikke Peterson<\/strong> &#8211; her time 1.20seconds outside American <strong>Rebecca Soni&#8217;s<\/strong> 2009 world mark &#8211; Soni the first American to win this event in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>King, who led through the first 100m in 1:05.23 finished in 2:17.13 with The Nertherlands <strong>Tes Schouten<\/strong> taking the bronze in 2:18.19 &#8211;
