Women Snatch Thrilling 4x50m Freestyle Relay Gold In Classic Duel With Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The US women have turned the tables on Australia in a classic &#8220;Duel In The Pool&#8221; 4x50m freestyle relay final setting a new Championship and All American record to win a fifth gold for Team USA in a magical night at the World Championships at the Melbourne Sports And Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> led off for the US girls splitting 24.08 before <strong>Claire Curzan<\/strong> took over, clocking 23.30, changing over to\u00a0 <strong>Erica Brown<\/strong> who swam a 23.74 before <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> anchored in a sizzling 22.77 to hold off Australia&#8217;s Olympic golden girl <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> (22.73).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-world-short-course-championships-day-3-day-3\/international-elite\/2022\/December\/15?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 3 Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2022\/16th-fina-world-swimming-championships-25m-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-day-3-emma-mckeon-dominates-100-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKeon had won the 100 freestyle earlier in the night<\/a>, but it was the US foursome who spoiled the Dolphins party, clocking 1:33.89 to shave 0.14 off the Championship record set by The Netherlands in Hangzhou in 2018, followed buy the Australians in 1:34.23 and The Netherlands 1:35.36.<\/p>\n<p>The other Australian splits times were: <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> (23.98), <strong>Madi Wilson<\/strong> (23.51), <strong>Mollie O&#8217;Callaghan<\/strong> (24.01) with the Netherlands girls <strong>Kim Busch<\/strong> swimming 24.20,<strong> Maaike de Waard<\/strong> 23.47,<strong> Kira Toussaint<\/strong> 24.01 and<strong> Valerie van Roon<\/strong>, 23.68.<\/p>\n<p>The US victory capped a golden night for Team USA who had earlier taken gold in the women&#8217;s 200m butterfly to <strong>Dakota Luther<\/strong> in a 1-2 finish\u00a0 with <strong>Hali Flickinger<\/strong> claiming silver, followed by the dynamic duo <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> and <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong>&#8216;s golden double\u00a0 in the women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s 100m breaststroke, with <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> holding off <strong>Tommy Neil<\/strong> to snatch the 400m
