Australian women set new world record in 4 x100m freestyle with Emma McKeon Popping 49.96 Anchor Split<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s all-conquering women\u2019s 4x100m freestyle relay team have added Short Course gold to their impeccable long course record and in world record time, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/historic-seven-medal-performance-earns-emma-mckeon-female-world-swimmer-of-the-year-honors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympic golden girl<\/a> <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> anchoring in a history making sub 100m split of 49.96.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolphins team <strong>Mollie O\u2019Callaghan<\/strong> (52.19), <strong>Madi Wilson<\/strong> (51.28), <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> (52.00) and McKeon clocked a new world mark of 3:25.43 \u2013 over a full second under the old mark set by the Netherlands in Doha in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-world-short-course-championships-day-1\/international-elite\/2022\/December\/13?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Australians overtook the USA on the final leg with the Americans taking the silver in a new American record of 3:26.29 with Canada third in 3:28.06.<\/p>\n<p>McKeon becomes the first women to break 50 seconds, overtaking fellow Australian sprint queen Cate Campbell\u2019s 50.38.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, it was just about getting my hand on the wall and then looking to see that we had not only won but also set a world record,\u201d McKeon said.<\/p>\n<p>For the Americans it was <strong>Tori Huske<\/strong> who led off in 51.73, followed by <strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> (51.17), <strong>Claire Curzan<\/strong> (51.59) and <strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> (51.80).<\/p>\n<p>While <strong>Rebecca Smith<\/strong> started for the Canadians in 52.68, followed by <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> (51.49), <strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> (51.11) with <strong>Katerine Savard<\/strong> bringing it home in 51.80.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2022\/16th-fina-world-swimming-championships-25m-live-results\">COMPLETE RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FLASH!
