The team of <strong>Berit Berglund<\/strong>, <strong>Molly Sweeney<\/strong>, <b>Alex Shackell <\/b>and\u00a0<strong>Meghan Christman<\/strong> put up a time of 1:36.48 to beat the previous 15-18 National Age Group record of 1:36.77 set by Elmbrook Swim Club (<strong>Maggie Wanezek<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lucy Thomas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Campbell Stoll<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Abby Wanezek<\/strong>) earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Carmel swimmers also knocked off the meet record of 1:37.60 set by Berglund, <strong>Devon Kitchel<\/strong>, Shackell and Christman last year. Shackell&#8217;s split of 22.83 was quicker than all but five swimmers in the final of the 200 medley relay at last year&#8217;s NCAA Championships as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/alex-shackell-emerging-as-elite-butterfly-talent-sights-on-home-olympic-trials-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she continues to emerge as one of the most talented young butterfly swimmers in the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The TAC Titans took second in 1:39.58 with\u00a0<strong>Taylor Morris<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Samantha Armand<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Keelan Cotter<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jillian Crooks<\/strong> finished second in 1:39.58, and the Sarasota Sharks team of\u00a0<strong>Addison Sauickie<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gracie Weyant<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Maeve Eckerman<\/strong> placed third in 1:39.71. Later in the night, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/summer-mcintosh-splits-140-19-200-free-to-anchor-sarasota-sharks-to-relay-win-at-junior-nationals-east\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McIntosh split 1:40.19 anchoring Sarasota&#8217;s 800 free relay to overtake Carmel and set a new meet record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The boys&#8217; edition of the 200 medley relay saw New Albany hold off the Lakeside Swim Team to earn a win by seven hundredths. The team of <strong>Hudson Williams<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Chase Swearingen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Josh Smith<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Tuckor Lambert<\/strong> finished in 1:27.53 while Lakeside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Johnny Crush<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will Scholtz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Mercer<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Alex Thiesing<\/strong> settled for second in 1:27.60. Bolles&#8217; team of\u00a0<strong>Carter Lancaster<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Will Heck<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Aidan Paro<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Seth Tolentino<\/strong> took third in 1:28.68.<\/p>\n<p>Carmel got another relay win in the final event of the evening, the boys&#8217; 800 freestyle relay.. <strong>Aaron Shackell<\/strong>, older brother of Alex and a future Cal Golden Bear, led off in 1:35.02, and he was followed by\u00a0<strong>Gregg Enoch<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lewis Zhang<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Sean Sullivan<\/strong> on the way to a final time of 6:27.38. SwimMAC Carolina&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Caleb Maldari<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Norvin Clontz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack Haywood<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Alex Ayers<\/strong> finished second in 6:29.63, and third went to Swim Atlanta&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ben Irwin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tristan DenBrock<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Blake Burnley<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Kyler Heffner<\/strong> in 6:31.25.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swmeets.com\/Realtime\/SC%20Juniors\/2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Results<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carmel Breaks National Age Group Record in 15-18 Girls&#8217;
