Lydia Jacoby Lowers Kaitlyn Dobler’s 17-18 NAG Record in 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the 100 breaststroke Friday evening at the Minnesota Invitational, Texas swimmers\u00a0Anna Elendt<\/strong> and\u00a0Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> finished 1-2 in a tight race, with the German swimmer getting the better of the Alaska native by six hundredths, 57.48 to 57.54. In the process, Jacoby lowered the U.S. National Age Group record in the event, the 57.71 that Kaitlyn Dobler<\/strong> set in early 2021.<\/p>\n

Jacoby was the 2021 Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke as she pulled off a stunning finish to defeat South Africa’s\u00a0Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> and veteran American teammate\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong>. Jacoby struggled to recapture her top form during her senior year of high school, and she ended up missing the 2022 World Championships by less than a tenth second as she placed fourth in the 100-meter breast at the U.S. World Championship Trials behind King,\u00a0Annie Lazor<\/strong> and Dobler.<\/p>\n
