medallist<strong> Elijah Winnington<\/strong> &#8211; who like the girls in his squad will line up in the 1500m as well as the 100, 200, 400 and 800m.<\/p>\n<p>Other members of Australia\u2019s highly successful Commonwealth Games team gold medallists <strong>Sam Short<\/strong> (Rackley),who won the 1500m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle and his fellow dual relay gold medallist <strong>Zac Incerti<\/strong> (USC Spartans) who has moved to Queensland to re-connect with former coach <strong>Mick Palfrey<\/strong> after leaving WA for SA and coach <strong>Peter Bishop <\/strong>will also target the meet.<\/p>\n<p>They will be joined by Birmingham team mates, <strong>Cody Simpson, Bowen Gough<\/strong> and <strong>Josh Edwards-Smith<\/strong> (Griffith University), as well as Somerset freestyle sprinters, <strong>Grayson Bell<\/strong> and <strong>Thomas Nowakowski<\/strong> dual Olympian <strong>Brianna Throssell<\/strong> who has moved from USC Spartans for SPW.<\/p>\n<p>Olympian and former World record holder <strong>Matt Wilson<\/strong> and relay gold medal freestyle gold medallist <strong>Will Yang <\/strong>\u2013 are both part of the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic team (SOPAC)who will make the trek north of the border.<\/p>\n<p>The NZ Aquablacks group will be spearheaded by World Championship bronze medallist and Commonwealth champion <strong>Lewis Queensland Championships will be triple Olympian <strong>Cam McEvoy <\/strong>(Somerville House) who is back in Queensland after a stint in Sydney, where he swam the Australian Short Course with Manly SC, will line up in his specialist 50 and 100m freestyle events \u2013 events that will also feature sons of two former great Queenslanders \u2013 <strong>Will Stockwell <\/strong>\u2013 son of Olympic greats <strong>Mark Stockwell<\/strong> and <strong>Tracy Caulkins<\/strong> and <strong>Kai Taylor<\/strong> \u2013 son of triple Olympian <strong>Hayley Lewis.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taylor, 19, is in Tokyo with the Queensland Development Team contesting the Japan Open where he has already won the B final in the 100m freestyle on night one in 49.48 \u2013 a time that would have seen him finish fifth in the A final.<\/p>\n<p>And Kai backed up on night two to finish fourth in the 200m freestyle in a new pb of 1:47.83 with his SPW team mate <strong>Josh Staples<\/strong> eighth in 1:51.92.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 100m backstroke saw SPW pair <strong>Hannah Fredericks<\/strong> (1.01:3) and <strong>Jaclyn Barclay<\/strong> (1:01.45) finish fourth and fifth respectively while Sunshine Coast Grammar&#8217;s <strong>Lucy Dring<\/strong> finished fifth in the 200m freestyle final in 1:59.82<\/p>\n<p>Swimming Queensland has a team of 24 swimmers and seven coaches who have already contested the Japan Invitational and will return home after the Japan Open to contest the Queensland Championships \u2013 all part of Head Coach <strong>Drew McGregor<\/strong>\u2019s plan to take the next generation out of their comfort zone and subject the team to a series of meets while managing the pressures of travel and racing.<\/p>\n<p>Other Queensland youngsters to feature on day one were 18-year-old <strong>Jacqueline Davison-McGovern<\/strong> (Yeronga Park) with a personal best of 4:13.18 to finish fifth in the A final of the women\u2019s 400m freestyle; <strong>Lily Price<\/strong> (Rackley) third in the B final of the 50m butterfly in 26.86 and <strong>Amelia Weber<\/strong> (St Peters Western) who won the
