{"id":516718,"date":"2022-11-22T20:48:17","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T03:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=516718"},"modified":"2022-11-22T20:48:17","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T03:48:17","slug":"jordan-crooks-maggie-macneil-lead-way-in-sec-weekly-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jordan-crooks-maggie-macneil-lead-way-in-sec-weekly-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Jordan Crooks, Maggie MacNeil Lead Way in SEC Weekly Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jordan Crooks, Maggie MacNeil Lead Way in SEC Weekly Honors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Off outstanding performances in last weekend\u2019s college invitationals, Tennessee\u2019s <strong>Jordan Crooks<\/strong> and LSU\u2019s <strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> earned swimmer of the week nods in the latest SEC Weekly Honors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secsports.com\/article\/35085585\/swimming-diving-athletes-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Volunteers swept the men\u2019s categories, with Crooks, diver <strong>Bryden Hattie<\/strong> and freshman <strong>Gui Caribe,<\/strong> who shared the honors with <strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> of Texas A&amp;M. Kentucky\u2019s <strong>Kyndal Knight<\/strong> is the diver of the week, with South Carolina\u2019s <strong>Amy Riordan<\/strong> as the freshman of the week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Crooks was outstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jordan-crooks-virginia-women-light-up-scoreboard-at-tennessee-invitational\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the Tennessee Invitational<\/a>. The sophomore from the Cayman Islands tallied eight wins \u2013 three individual and three relays. He set program records in the 50 freestyle (18.27 seconds) and 100 butterfly (44.79). Those two and his 41.29 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gretchen-walsh-jordan-crooks-finish-off-tennessee-invite-with-100-freestyle-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the 100 free<\/a> are nation-leading times this season. Tennessee\u2019s 200 free, 400 free and 400 medley relays all set school records. The 400 free is the fastest in the country this season, 200 free the second-fastest.<\/p>\n<p>MacNeil did much the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/art-adamson-invitational-maggie-mac-neil-nears-ncaa-record-in-100-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the Art Adamson Invitational<\/a>. The Tigers\u2019 Canadian Olympic gold medalist won the 50 free in 21.03, the 100 fly in 49.40 and the 100 back in 50.70. Those times are second, second and third, respectively, in the nation this season.<\/p>\n<p>Hattie, a junior from Canada, won the platform event at the Tennessee Invitational with 402.50 points, a winning margin of more than 18 points. Hattie was second on both 1-meter (364.75) and 3-meter (392.05).<\/p>\n<p>Knight swept <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indiana-bags-four-relay-a-cuts-womens-200-free-school-record-at-ohio-state-invitational\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the springboard events at the Ohio State Invitational<\/a>. The Wildcats\u2019 fifth-year scored 329.25 to best the field on 1-meter and 382.30 on 3-meter, the latter a school record. He added a runner-up result on platform with a tally of 314.45. All three scores are season-bests.<\/p>\n<p>Caribe went 41.44 in the 100 free as the runner-up to Crooks and the second-fastest time in the nation this season. It\u2019s also the second-best time ever by a freshman in NCAA history. His time of 18.91 in the 50 free is third in the country. The Brazilian was part of four winning relays that placed in the top seven nationally, including a nation\u2019s best 400 free relay on which he split 41.55.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson picked up two wins in home water at the Adamson Invite, including an NCAA A cut of 3:38.39 in the 400 individual medley. That\u2019s the second-fastest time in the nation this season. He won the 200 IM in 1:41.83, the seventh-fastest time in history, and anchored a 200 medley relay that won gold and posted the second-best time in Aggies history.<\/p>\n<p>Riordan starred at the Gamecock Invitational, where she won the 500 free. Her time of 4:45.97 is fourth in program history.
