She won the race on the front end of a double that saw her claime the 100 backstroke as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/art-adamson-invitational-day-1-maggie-mac-neil-races-to-21-03-fastest-time-in-ncaa-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 recap<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s meet, Alabama leads with 553.5 points, followed by USC (530.5), Texas A&amp;M (438), LSU (378), Arkansas (305), Washington State (169) and TCU (106).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s meet, Texas A&amp;M leads with 804.5 points, followed by Alabama (593), USC (415.5), LSU (286), TCU (256) and\u00a0 Air Force (113).<\/p>\n<p>There is one day of the meet to go.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a look at the Day 2 events:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 200 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alabama won the women\u2019s 200 medley relay to kick off the second night of finals at the Art Adamson Invitational.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> led off in 24.07, followed by<strong> Avery Wiseman <\/strong>(26.87), <strong>Morgan Scott<\/strong> (22.50) and <strong>Kailia Antoniou<\/strong> (21.66) as the Crimson Tide finished in 1:35.10, dropping two seconds from prelims.<\/p>\n<p>USC\u2019s <strong>Aria Bernal, Kaitlyn Dobler, Anicka Delgado<\/strong> and <strong>Hanna Henderson<\/strong> took second in 1:35.52.<\/p>\n<p>LSU\u2019s <strong>Michaela De Villiers, Hannah Womer, Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> and <strong>Katarina Milutinovich<\/strong> took third in 1:37.78. Mac Neil\u2019s butterfly split was 21.85.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M took 1-2 in the men\u2019s 200 medley relay after Alabama was disqualified.<\/p>\n<p>The A team won in 1:23.45 as <strong>Ethan Gagulski<\/strong> (21.08), <strong>Andres Puente Bustamente<\/strong> (23.27), <strong>Connor Foote<\/strong> (20.18) and <strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> (18.92) teamed up<\/p>\n<p>The B team of <strong>Thomas Shomper, Alex Sanchez, Jace Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Kaloyan Bratanov<\/strong> took second in 1:25.16.<\/p>\n<p>USC was third in 1:25.62.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Giulia Goerigk<\/strong> put together a dominating swim in the women\u2019s 400 IM. The freshman dropped nearly five seconds from prelims and won the race in 4:05.75.<\/p>\n<p>The time was nearly three seconds ahead of the field. USC\u2019s<strong> Isabelle Odgers,<\/strong> who won the 200 IM on Wednesday, was second in 4:08.64, dropping more than a second from her prelim time, in another strong swim.<\/p>\n<p>USC\u2019s <strong>Ella Flower<\/strong>s took third in 4:14.05, just ahead of Arkansas\u2019<strong> Luciana Thomas<\/strong> (4:14.14).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M went 1-2-3-4 in the men\u2019s 400 IM, putting together several fast swims at the home Art Adamson Invitational.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baylor Nelson<\/strong> won the event in 3:38.39, dropping eight seconds from his prelims time.<\/p>\n<p>Teammate <strong>Anze Fers Erzen<\/strong> took second in 3:39.05, followed by <strong>Andrea Puente Bustamente<\/strong> (3:41.22) and<strong> Max Vega Cuevas<\/strong> (3:46.19).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LSU\u2019s<strong> Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> was a half second off of her NCAA record in the 100 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Mac Neil dropped three seconds from her prelims time to throw down a 49.40 to win.<\/p>\n<p>She holds the NCAA record at 48.89 set at NCAAs two years ago. Her time Thursday at the Art Adamson Invitational was nearly two seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Olivia Theall<\/strong> was second in 51.25, followed by Alabama\u2019s <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> (51.89),<strong> Morgan Scot<\/strong>t (52.26) and USC\u2019s <strong>Anicka Delgado (<\/strong>52.46).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M went 1-2 to continue it strong showing in the men\u2019s meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connor Foote<\/strong> won the 100 butterfly in 46.24, ahead of teammate <strong>Jace Brown<\/strong> (46.29).<\/p>\n<p>Alabama\u2019s <strong>Mateo Miceli<\/strong> was third (46.79), followed by teammate <strong>Bernardo De Almeida<\/strong> (46.95).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Chloe Stepanek<\/strong> put together a strong swim to win the women\u2019s 200 free by nearly two seconds. The junior touched the wall in 1:43.83.<\/p>\n<p>LSU\u2019s <strong>Megan Barne<\/strong>s finished second in 1:45.67, dropping two seconds from prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama\u2019s <strong>Kalia Antoniou<\/strong> took third in 1:45.98.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alabama<strong>\u2019s Charlie Hawke<\/strong> dropped three tenths of a second in his 200 free to touch the wall first in 1:31.92.<\/p>\n<p>Air Force\u2019s <strong>Wen Zhang<\/strong> was just seven hundredths behind at 1:31.99 to take second.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Kaloyan Bratanov<\/strong> took third in 1:32.49, while LSU\u2019s<strong> Brooks Curry<\/strong> was fourth in 1:33.56.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Defending NCAA champion <strong>Kaitlyn Dobler<\/strong> crushed the field at the Art Adamson Invitational on Thursday night, putting together a 56.94 swim in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>The USC junior was more than three seconds ahead of the rest of the field and just over a second off the NCAA record.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama\u2019s <strong>Avery Wiseman<\/strong> took second in 1:00.15, followed by Arkansas\u2019<strong> Vanessa Herrmann<\/strong> (100.27).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In one of the closest races of the meet so far, two swimmers were within five hundredths of a second of each other in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Alex Sanchez<\/strong> won the race in 51.90, followed by Alabama All-American<strong> Derek Maas<\/strong>, who finished in 51.95.<\/p>\n<p>If that wasn\u2019t close enough, there was a tie for third with USC\u2019s <strong>Chris O\u2019Grady<\/strong> and Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Andreas Puente Bustamente<\/strong> both touching the wall in 52.09, not very far off the pace of the top two.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 100 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In an impressive double, LSU\u2019s <strong>Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> also claimed the 100 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>Mac Neil dropped nearly 2.5 seconds from prelims and won the race in 50.70, holding off Alabama Olympian <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> (50.84) by less than two tenths.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas<strong>\u2019 Andrea Sansores<\/strong> and Alabama\u2019s <strong>Morgan Scott<\/strong> tied for third at 52.39.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Ethan Gogulski<\/strong> continued his strong midseason performance with a win in the 100 backstroke. He touched the wall in 45.64, winning by seven tenths of a second.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama\u2019s<strong> Matthew Menke<\/strong> finished second, touching in 45.71.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Thomas Schomper<\/strong> took third, finishing just under 47 seconds in 46.96.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 800 Free Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USC closed the women\u2019s portion of Day 2 of the Art Adamson Invitational with a win in the 800 free relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justina Kozan<\/strong> led off in 1:45.35, followed by <strong>Marlene Kahler<\/strong> (1:47.65), <strong>Genevieve Sasseville<\/strong> (1:48.46) and<strong> Anicka Delgado<\/strong> (1:45.54) as the Trojans won in 7:07.00.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Chloe Stepanek, Giulia Goerigk, Mollie Wright<\/strong> and<strong> Jordan Buechler<\/strong> finished second in 7:08.24.<\/p>\n<p>LSU\u2019s <strong>Reagan Osborne, Katarina Milutinovich, Megan Barnes<\/strong> and <strong>Hannah Bellina<\/strong> took third in 7:11.44.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 800 Free Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alabama closed the session with a win in the men\u2019s 800 free relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlie Hawke<\/strong> led off in 1:31.89, followed by <strong>Kacper Piotrowski<\/strong> (1:34.60), <strong>Cam Auerbach<\/strong> (1:34.80) and <strong>Kaique Alves<\/strong> (1:15.13) as the Crimson Tide finished in 6:16.42.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M finished second with <strong>Baylor Nelson, Kaloyan Bratanov, Connor Foote<\/strong> and <strong>Carter Nelson<\/strong> touching the wall in 6:21.71.<\/p>\n<p>USC\u2019s <strong>Chris O\u2019Grady, Max Saunders, Evangelos Makrygiannis<\/strong> and<strong> Paul Netterer<\/strong> took third in 6:27.94.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 Art Adamson Invitational continued at Texas A&amp;M on Thursday with the Day 2 finals.
