Florida Snags Verbal From Olympic Trials Qualifier Sofia Plaza<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Florida has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Olympic Trials qualifier Sofia Plaza\u00a0<\/strong>of Charlotte, North Carolina.<\/p>\n

She will join\u00a0Lilly Daley<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and Emma Weyant<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the Gators\u2019 Class of 2028.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Florida!! So thankful for the continued support of my friends, family, and coaches. Go gators!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Plaza does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and achieved an Olympic Trials cut in the 400m IM at Indianapolis Sectionals back in March with a time of 4:48.33 to finish second overall. There, she also placed third in both the 200m IM and 200m breast.<\/p>\n

Back in December, Plaza raced to sixth in the 200 breast at Juniors East and won the B-final of the 400 IM.<\/p>\n
