{"id":516043,"date":"2022-11-08T03:39:34","date_gmt":"2022-11-08T10:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=516043"},"modified":"2022-11-08T03:47:18","modified_gmt":"2022-11-08T10:47:18","slug":"french-swimming-federation-selects-20-strong-team-for-world-short-course-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/french-swimming-federation-selects-20-strong-team-for-world-short-course-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"French Swimming Federation Selects 20-Strong Team For World Short-Course Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>French Swimming Federation Selects 20-Strong Team For World Short-Course Championships<\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>French Swimming Federation<\/strong> has selected a 20-strong squad for the <strong>World Short-Course Championships<\/strong> in Melbourne next month following the national championships in Chartres at which <strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong>, <strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> and <strong>Mewen Tomac<\/strong> were stand-outs.<\/p>\n<p>Grousset became the first swimmer to complete the 50, 100 and 200m free treble to add to the 100IM as the CS Clichy 92 athlete won every individual race he entered, having pulled out of the 50 fly after the heats.<\/p>\n<p>It has already been a medal-laden year for the 23-year-old who won 100 free silver and 50 bronze at the long-course World Championships in Budapest in June.<\/p>\n<p>Grousset then went on to win gold with the French mixed 4&#215;100 free relay at the Europeans in Rome in August plus silvers in the 50 fly and men&#8217;s mixed medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>To date, he has one international short-course medal, claiming 4&#215;50 free bronze at the short-course Europeans in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He told ffnatation.fr:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was really happy to do my 100m, I really wanted to.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the Worlds, it will be the same thing: I will take maximum pleasure, confidence and experience. The more international meetings you have, the more experience you gain, so that will be the key to these world championships.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_516045\" style=\"width: 100br (1:05.03) and 200 (2:21.34), four years after claiming the 50m mark in 29.98 which still stands today.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old also won the 400 free and 100IM at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Tomac claimed the 50-100-200 back treble, 15 years after <strong>Benjamin Stasiulis<\/strong> completed the hat-trick in Nimes.<\/p>\n<p>The French federation had initially announced there would be 16 places on the French team for the global meet in Australia from 13-18 December but revised that to 20 following the Chartres competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong>, <strong>Yohann Ndoye Brouard<\/strong>, <strong>Mary-Ambre Moluh<\/strong> and <strong>Melanie Henique<\/strong> will also compete but<strong> Marie Wattel<\/strong> will not travel, instead opting to
