ATHENS, Georgia, March 19. GEORGIA head coach Jack Bauerle, who is still embroiled in a suspension that the University of Georgia still refuses to call a suspension, will not coach either the men’s or the women’s team at the NCAA Division I Championships.<\/p>\n
Since January, Bauerle has not been allowed to coach during meets, but was still able to helm practices and warmups for meets. This came at the same time that NCAA titlist Chase Kalisz had to deal with an academic issue that kept him out of the loop for just two weeks. Since that time period, Bauerle has been suspended pending an academic eligibility review.<\/p>\n
No more details have been revealed by Georgia Athletics, and after previous reporting by Swimming World<\/i>, Georgia has asked us not to refer to it as a suspension, and prefer the term \u201cwithheld from competition,\u201d further obfuscating the situation.<\/p>\n
Georgia has refused to illuminate the situation ever since, with this latest news ratcheting up the heat on the situation.
