Nease Boys Claim Florida 3A State Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2022 Florida 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships was held on November 4 at the Sailfish Splashpark Aquatic Athletics Center in Stuart, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2022-fhsaa-3a-state-championships\/high-school\/2022\/November\/4?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a> for full meet results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIRLS MEET<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Ponte Vedra &#8211; 340.5<br \/>\n2. Saint Petersburg &#8211; 211<br \/>\n3. Allen D. Nease &#8211; 210<br \/>\n4. Naples &#8211; 181<br \/>\n5. Saint Thomas Aquinas &#8211; 166<\/p>\n<p>Countryside&#8217;s <strong>Summer Cardwell\u00a0<\/strong>was the lone double-event winner during the meet. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/cardwell-will-become-a-card-louisville-gets-first-2023-commitment-from-olympic-trials-qualifier-summer-cardwell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">future Louisville Cardinal<\/a> won the 200 free in 1:46.65 as the only swimmer under the 1:50-barrier, also taking first in the 100 fly with a time of 53.72.<\/p>\n<p>The 500 free proved to be one of the closest races of the meet as only .43 separated the top three finishers; Ocala Forest&#8217;s <strong>Ashley Sampson\u00a0<\/strong>swam away with the title with a winning time of 4:59.30.<\/p>\n<p>Other individual event winners included Allen D. Nease&#8217;s Allen D. Nease in the 200 IM (2:04.40), Fleming Island&#8217;s <strong>Maryn McDade\u00a0<\/strong>in the 50 free (23.07), Ponte Vedra&#8217;s <strong>Penny Zarczynski <\/strong>in the 100 free (51.19), Ponte Vedra&#8217;s <strong>Ann Wohlgemuth\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 back (54.40) and Naples&#8217; <strong>Sabyne Brisson\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 breast (1:01.94).<\/p>\n<p><strong>BOYS MEET<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Allen D. Nease &#8211; 290<br \/>\n2. Jesuit &#8211; 245<br \/>\n3. Lawton Chiles &#8211; 170<br \/>\n4. Saint Thomas Aquinas &#8211; 143<br \/>\n5. Booker T. Washington &#8211; 142<\/p>\n<p>There were three double-event winners on the boys&#8217; side, including Lawton Chiles&#8217; <strong>Ryder Gentry<\/strong>. He won the 200 free in 1:39.11 as the only swimmer under 1:40 before going on to win the 100 free, getting his hand to the wall in 45.17.<\/p>\n<p>Gainesville&#8217;s <strong>Michael Mullen\u00a0<\/strong>claimed state titles in both the 200 IM (1:46.25) 100 breast (55.61). Sebastian River&#8217;s <strong>Mitchell Ledford <\/strong>also picked up a pair of gold medals, winning the 100 fly (46.33) and 100 back (48.47).<\/p>\n<p>Saint Thomas Aquinas&#8217; <strong>Samuel Collingwood\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted to the top spot in the 50 free with a time of 20.69 while Countryside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Taylor <\/strong>stopped the clock in 4:22.30 in the 500 free, winning that event by eight seconds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ponte Vedra Girls, Allen D.
