The meet is unscored, but a pair of returning standouts for the defending national-champion Bears came out on top.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Destin Lasco<\/strong>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-mens-championships-title-for-destin-lasco-in-200-backstroke-sparks-major-scoring-haul-for-cal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won the NCAA title in the 200-yard backstroke last year<\/a> and placed second in the 200 IM, finished on top in the IM category with a combined time of 6:26.89, more than five seconds ahead of Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Ron Polonsky\u00a0<\/strong>(6:31.99). The highlight for Lasco was a 1:45.73 in the 200 IM as he won all three medley races. Meanwhile, teammate\u00a0<strong>Gabriel Jett<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-nationals-gabriel-jett-rides-confidence-to-become-seventh-fastest-american-ever-in-mens-200-fly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the U.S. national champion in the 200-meter butterfly<\/a>, raced backstroke at the meet and won with a combined time of 2:52.18, almost three seconds ahead of the field. Jett was also fastest in all three distances, with times of 46.89 in the 100 back and 1:43.30 in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Also for Cal,\u00a0<strong>Robin Hansson<\/strong> won the 200 free (1:36.37) on his way to the fastest overall time in the 50-100-200 free combo (2:40.56), while Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luke Maurer<\/strong> was second in 2:40.83. Cal&#8217;s <strong>Bjorn Seeliger<\/strong> only had the seventh-fastest combined time, but it was no surprise to see him leading the way in the 50 free (19.76) and 100 free (43.57).<\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Affeld<\/strong> had the top times in the 50 fly (21.87) and 200 fly (1:47.07) as he edged out Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dare Rose<\/strong> for the overall butterfly title, 2:57.55 to 2:57.87, while the duo of\u00a0<strong>Ethan Deng<\/strong> (3:17.49) and\u00a0<strong>Zhier Fan<\/strong> (3:18.54) led the way in breaststroke for the Cardinal. Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Preston Forst<\/strong> was the winner in the combined version of the longer freestyle races with an overall time of 15:25.40.
