Legendary Australian Coach Ian Pope Joins Inside with Brett Hawke Podcast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout his career as an internationally renowned coach, Australian Ian Pope<\/strong> has mentored some of the biggest names in the sport. This past week, he joined the Inside with Brett Hawke Podcast<\/strong> to discuss his career with the two-time Olympic host. The interview stretched for more than an hour, with Hawke and Pope engaging in discussion on a variety of topics.<\/p>\n

Among the athletes guided by Pope include Olympic medalists Michael Klim<\/strong>, Massi Rossolino<\/strong>, Grant Hackett<\/strong> and Matt Welsh<\/strong>. Dozens of other athletes, Australian and from international locales, also benefited from the guidance of Pope. At one point, Hawke was mentored by Pope, a development which allowed Hawke to dive deep during the interview. During his career, Pope has led his athletes to more than 70 medals between the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

The head coach at the Melbourne Swimming Club, Pope emphasized the importance of the coach-athlete relationship and simulating race conditions during practice to ensure swimmers were prepared under pressure. Additionally, Pope and Hawke reminisced about their partnership, with Pope also taking an eye to today\u2019s emerging stars, such as Romanian David Popovici<\/strong><\/a> and South Korea\u2019s Hwang Sunwoo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
