In an anticipated showdown, she was five seconds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/summer-mcintosh-to-face-latest-grueling-test-at-fina-world-cup-in-toronto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ahead of Canada\u2019s <strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong><\/a> (4:01.11) and six ahead of Hong Kong\u2019s <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> (4:02.68) in the heats. The finals will likely be closer and faster, but Ledecky looks strong with that morning performance.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 50 freestyle, <strong>Kasia Wasick<\/strong> took the top seed in 23.75, just ahead of Canada\u2019s <strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> (23.95) and <strong>Australia\u2019s Madison Wilson<\/strong> (23.98). The final will also feature France\u2019s <strong>Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong>, USA\u2019s <strong>Erika Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Linnea Mack<\/strong> and <strong>Kira Toussaint<\/strong> of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 400 free, South Africa\u2019s<strong> Matt Sates<\/strong> touched the wall first in 3:42.49, ahead of Lithuania\u2019s<strong> Danas Rapsys<\/strong> (3:42.63) and USA\u2019s<strong> Kieran Smith<\/strong> (3:42.67).<\/p>\n<p>The 50 backstroke a the World Cup featured a strong performance from the home Canadians as<strong> Kylie Masse<\/strong> took the top spot in 26.05, followed by <strong>Maggie MacNeil<\/strong> (26.19) and <strong>Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> (26.48).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 200 backstroke, Poland\u2019s <strong>Kacper Stokowski t<\/strong>ook the top seed in 1:52.18, ahead of USA\u2019s <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> (1:52.53) and Czech Republic\u2019s <strong>Tomas<\/strong> <strong>Franta<\/strong> (1:52.90).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 200 butterfly at the World Cup, USA\u2019s <strong>Hali Flickinger<\/strong> took the top seed in 2:05.45, just ahead of compatrio<strong>t Kelly Pash<\/strong> (2:05.70) and Canada\u2019s<strong> Katerine Savard<\/strong> (2:08.77).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 fly, USA\u2019s <strong>Coleman Stewart<\/strong> was the top qualifier in 50.19, followed by compatriot <strong>Trenton Julian<\/strong> (50.34) and Australia\u2019s <strong>Matthew Temple<\/strong> (50.48).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/competitions\/2957\/fina-swimming-world-cup-2022\/schedule?phase=All\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 200 breaststroke at the World Cup, Canada\u2019s<strong> Sydney Pickrem<\/strong> took the top spot in 2:20.60, ahead of USA\u2019s<strong> Lilly King<\/strong> (2:22.34) and<strong> Annie Lazor<\/strong> (2:22.95).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke, USA\u2019s <strong>Reece Whitley<\/strong> took the top seed in 57.08, followed y compatriot <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> (57.40) and Japan\u2019s <strong>Yoshiki Yamanaka<\/strong> (57.41).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 50 free, Trinidad and Tobago\u2019s<strong> Dylan Carte<\/strong>r took the top seed in 20.91, ahead of Australia\u2019s<strong> Kyle Chalmers<\/strong> (21.34) and USA\u2019s <strong>Brooks Curry<\/strong> and <strong>Justin Ress<\/strong>, who tied for the third spot (21.35).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 100 IM at the World Cup, Sweden\u2019s <strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> was the top qualifier in 58.58, ahead of USA\u2019s <strong>Kelly Pash<\/strong> (58.61) and <strong>Beata Nelson<\/strong> (58.92).<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 100 IM saw<strong> Trenton Julian<\/strong> take the top seed in 52.61, ahead of<strong> Shaine Casas<\/strong> (52.78) and Brazil\u2019s <strong>Caio Pumputis<\/strong> (52.91).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 FINA World Cup continued with the first day of its stop in Toronto for the heats of the first day.
