I have returned to the pool only for two months since I took a vacation after the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/lifestyle\/sports\/chinas-li-bingjie-breaks-short-course-400m-freestyle-world-record-2022-10-27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xinhua news agency quoted Li as saying<\/a>. &#8220;I hope I could get faster and do my best in the upcoming Melbourne worlds,&#8221; she said, referring to the Dec. 13-18 world championships.<\/p>\n<p>The world record could be in danger again this weekend. American Olympic champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-will-take-aim-at-scm-world-records-at-upcoming-world-cup-stops\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong><\/a> will be competing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FINA<\/a> World Cup Series this weekend in Toronto, then Indianapolis next week, and will have her shot to claim the record at each stop.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn\u2019t take away from a stunning performance by Li Bingjie.<\/p>\n<p>Li won the gold medal in the 400 free at the 2021 FINA Short Course World Championships, holding off Canada\u2019s <strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> and Hong Kong\u2019s <strong>Siobhan Haughey <\/strong>in the process.
