{"id":514993,"date":"2022-10-23T14:27:23","date_gmt":"2022-10-23T21:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=514993"},"modified":"2022-10-23T14:27:23","modified_gmt":"2022-10-23T21:27:23","slug":"leon-marchand-goes-3-for-3-to-lead-arizona-state-split-with-wisconsin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/leon-marchand-goes-3-for-3-to-lead-arizona-state-split-with-wisconsin\/","title":{"rendered":"Leon Marchand Goes 3-for-3 to Lead Arizona State Split with Wisconsin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Leon Marchand Goes 3-for-3 to Lead Arizona State Split with Wisconsin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Leon Marchand<\/strong> won all three of his events, including a comical margin of victory in the 400 individual medley, as Arizona State split a dual meet with Wisconsin <a href=\"https:\/\/thesundevils.com\/news\/2022\/10\/22\/mens-swimming-diving-sun-devil-swim-dive-with-no-20-16-wisconsin-in-home-opener.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Saturday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sun Devils won the men\u2019s meet, 183-112, while Wisconsin claimed the women\u2019s meet, 187-111.<\/p>\n<p>Marchand won the 100 breaststroke, going 53.16 seconds. He added the 200 backstroke crown in 1:42.82. In the 400 IM, though, he left everybody in his wake, going 3:41.59 to win get to the wall 16 seconds before the nearest finisher. The Frenchman also swam breaststroke on the winning 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/arizona-state-vs-wisconsin\/ncaa-college\/2022\/October\/22?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/pac-12-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pac-12 Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grant House<\/strong> added wins in the 200 free and 100 free for the Sun Devils. The latter was a 1-2-3 finish with <strong>Patrick Sammon<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Dolan.<\/strong> Dolan was second to teammate <strong>Max McCusker<\/strong> in the 50, and McCusker led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 fly. Second in that race was 200 fly winner <strong>Alexander Colson.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin got two wins in the back half of the race, with <strong>Matthew Segal<\/strong> taking the 200 breast and <strong>Jake Newmark<\/strong> prevailing in the 500 free. <strong>Daniel Muller<\/strong> won both diving events for the Badgers.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s distance contingent led the way for Wisconsin. <strong>Paige McKenna<\/strong> won the 1,000 free in a 1-2-3 finish. <strong>Abby Carlson<\/strong> and <strong>Blair Stoneburg<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 200 free, then Stoneburg won the 500 free with <strong>Elle Braun,<\/strong> who was third in the 1,000, in second place and McKenna third.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin swept the sprints via <strong>Abby Wanezek.<\/strong> She also anchored the winning 400 medley relay and lead off the victorious 200 free relay. <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> was on both of those relays. In between, she won the 100 back and 200 back decisively, going 54.50 in the former and 1:57.20 in the latter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elizabeth Moore<\/strong> won the 100 breast and was second in the 200, <strong>Mallory Jump<\/strong> claimed the 100 fly and <strong>Kit Greenburg<\/strong> swept both diving events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charli Brown<\/strong> led Arizona State.
