{"id":514692,"date":"2022-10-19T10:04:47","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=514692"},"modified":"2022-10-19T10:04:47","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:04:47","slug":"national-junior-teamer-campbell-chase-continues-family-legacy-with-2024-verbal-to-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/national-junior-teamer-campbell-chase-continues-family-legacy-with-2024-verbal-to-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"National Junior Teamer Campbell Chase Continues Family Legacy With 2024 Verbal To Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Texas has picked up a new verbal commitment for the Class of 2024, keeping in-state standout <strong>Campbell Chase\u00a0<\/strong>of Dallas, Texas, in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll be joining her family legacy as her mother,\u00a0<strong>Lydia Morrow Chase<\/strong>, helped the Longhorns win national titles in 1990 1991 as an All-American breaststroker.\u00a0Her grandfather also ran cross country at Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #b34914\"><strong>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic career at the University of Texas!! I\u2019d like to thank my parents, my coaches and teammates at COR for helping me achieve this dream! And a big thanks to the awesome coaches at Texas for giving me this opportunity! HOOKEM&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A talented IMer, Chase trains with the City of Richardson Swim Team and is a member of the U.S. National Junior Team. She placed 14th in the 200m IM at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer before going on to win that event at the NCSA Championships, also taking second in the 100m breast\/400m IM and third in the 200m free.<\/p>\n<p>Back in March, she was the 200 IM runner-up at the NCSA Championships and took fourth in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>200 IM \u2013 1:57.62<\/li>\n<li>400 IM \u2013 4:12.09<\/li>\n<li>50 free \u2013 23.24<\/li>\n<li>100 free \u2013 50.15<\/li>\n<li>100 breast \u2013 1:02.04<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at Woodrow Wilson High School, Chase won the 200 IM and took second in the 100 free at the UIL 5A State Championships in 2022. She grabbed gold and bronze, respectively, in those events as a freshman.<\/p>\n<p>Texas placed second at the 2022 NCAA Championships last season behind defending champ Virginia.
