<strong>FINA World Cup<\/strong> series begins its three-stop tour in Berlin this coming Friday, heralding a three-day event that runs through to Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The German capital will welcome a host of Olympic and world champions past and present including <strong>Thomas Ceccon<\/strong>, <strong>Florian Wellbrock<\/strong>, <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>, <strong>Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong> and <strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The tour will then move on to Toronto (28-30 October) before concluding in Indianapolis (3-5 November).<\/p>\n<p>The overall prize purse of this year\u2019s World Cup is USD $1.2million with the top 20 male and female athletes at each meet sharing USD $224,000 prize money, split evenly between each gender.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the series, an additional USD $262,000 per gender will be awarded to the top eight men and women athletes, based on their overall ranking.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/competitions\/2959\/fina-swimming-world-cup-2022\/results\">Link to results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/news\/2857674\/where-to-watch-the-swimming-world-cup-2022\">How to watch<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Matt Sates<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/matthew-sates-emma-mckeon-crowned-2021-fina-world-cup-champs\/\">was crowned men&#8217;s champion<\/a> at the conclusion of the four-stop 2021 World Cup ahead of <strong>Tom Shields<\/strong> and <strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> with the top two returning in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Sates &#8211; who also took down three WJRs last year &#8211; will compete in all three stops over the coming weeks along with Chalmers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kyle-chalmers-blasts-world-record-in-scm-100-freestyle-video\/\">who lowered the short-course 100 free world record to 44.84<\/a> in Kazan, Russia, in October last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian told FINA:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNot only did I set a world record during last year\u2019s Swimming World Cup, but the experience both in and out of the competitive arena helped turn some good-natured rivalries into friendships,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to setting some more super-fast times in the 25m pool as well as really enjoying the sideline activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hear we have a sweet program lineup so I\u2019m looking to find out what Berlin, Toronto and Indianapolis have in store.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> was the women&#8217;s champion in 2021 but in her absence a fine field includes double Tokyo silver medalist <strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Hali Flickinge<\/strong>r, who won two bronzes in the Japanese capital last year.<\/p>\n<p>Haughey will meet <strong>Meg Harris<\/strong> &#8211; the Olympic 4&#215;100 freestyle relay champion &#8211; and <strong>Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong>, the Netherlands swimmer who won four golds among a six-medal haul at the Europeans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florent Manadou<\/strong> is among a strong French team that also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/european-championships-yohann-ndoye-brouard-wins-200-back-off-huge-final-turn-sets-french-record-of-155-62\/\">European 200m backstroke champion<\/a> <strong>Yohann Ndoye Brouard<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/european-championships-analia-pigree-maintains-french-backstroke-momentum-with-title-in-50-distance\/\"><strong>Analia<\/strong> Pigree<\/a> &#8211; 50 back gold medallist in Rome &#8211; and <strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-david-popovici-adds-100-free-title-in-thrilling-race\/\">world 100 free silver medallist.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mehdy Metella<\/strong> is also slated to compete although the Rio 2016 4&#215;100 free silver medallist didn&#8217;t swim at last weekend&#8217;s meet in Angers, France.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-thomas-ceccon-crushes-world-record-to-claim-100-back-world-title\/\">Ceccon set a new 100 back WR of 51.60<\/a> at the World Championships in Budapest before going on to become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/european-championships-thomas-ceccon-becomes-first-italian-man-to-win-100-back\/\">the first Italian to win the European title<\/a> at the Foro Italico in August.<\/p>\n<p>He finished ahead of <strong>Apostolos Christou<\/strong> and Ndoye Brouard that day with all three men set to commence battle once more in Berlin and they will be joined by\u00a0<strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-ryan-murphy-claims-200-back-world-title-for-first-time-greenbank-casas-on-rostrum\/\">200 back bronze medallist in Budapest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nicolo Martinenghi won the 100br in Budapest with Nic Fink in third before the American turned the tables and took 50 gold with the pair set to meet again.<\/p>\n<p>Wellbrock will face his training partner <strong>Mykhailo Romanchuk<\/strong> in the distance races.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, the World Cup will feature a mixed 4x25m relay involving four teams.<\/p>\n<p>Ceccon, Flickinger, Sates and <strong>Anastasia Gorbenko<\/strong> wilil be joined by Sarah and Florian Wellbrock, <strong>Lukas Martens<\/strong> and<strong>
