The <a href=\"https:\/\/gamecocksonline.com\/news\/2022\/10\/08\/gamecock-women-take-down-lsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">men\u2019s meet came down to the end<\/a>, with LSU prevailing by a 157-143 margin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/lsu-vs-south-carolina\/ncaa-college\/2022\/October\/8?rtn=%2Fresults%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MacNeil has set four school marks in her two meets in purple and gold. <a href=\"https:\/\/lsusports.net\/news\/2022\/10\/08\/lsu-splits-dual-meet-in-columbia-men-win-157-143-and-macneil-breaks-two-more-school-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This week<\/a>, she downed <strong>Haylee Knight\u2019s<\/strong> time of 51.71 in the 100 fly by nearly a second. Her time of 50.84 is the first NCAA sub-51 swim in a practice suit.<\/p>\n<p>MacNeil also won the 50 freestyle in 21.90, trimming two-tenths off <strong>Amanda Kendall\u2019s<\/strong> record. MacNeil downed the 100 free and 100 backstroke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/maggie-macneil-starts-lsu-career-with-pair-of-wins-in-tri-meet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a tri-meet two weeks ago<\/a>. MacNeil also won the 100 back in 53.51 Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>LSU got big points in the distance events. <strong>Allison Tomsuden<\/strong> held off the field in the 1,000 free in 10:15.82, a race where 1.20 seconds separated the top four finishers. <strong>Jenna Bridges<\/strong> won the 500 free in 4:57.17. She had been third behind teammate Sofia Sartori in the 200 fly. <strong>Hannah Womer<\/strong> won the 200 individual medley for the Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina picked up six wins in the pool and significant points in diving. <strong>Brooke Schultz<\/strong> outdueled LSU\u2019s twin Olympians on the boards. On 3-meter, she scored 391.28 points, 41 ahead of LSU\u2019s <strong>Chiara Pellacani.<\/strong> On 1-meter, she scored 336.45 to outpoint <strong>Helle Tuxen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Georgia Johnson<\/strong> had a stellar meet, winning the 100 breast, 200 breast and finishing second in the 200 IM. <strong>Janie Smith<\/strong> won the 100 free after coming second to MacNeil in the 50. <strong>Tatiana Salcutan,<\/strong> an Moldova Olympian and Louisville transfer making her USC debut, claimed the 200 back and was second in the 100, events in which teammate <strong>Bella Pantano<\/strong> was third and second, respectively. Freshman <strong>Amy Riordan<\/strong> won the 200 free and was second in the 500.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rafael Davila<\/strong> led the Gamecocks men with wins in the 500 and 100 free. <strong>Luke DeVore<\/strong> and <strong>Gage Hulbert<\/strong> authored a 1-2 finish in the 200 fly, then DeVore finished second to LSU\u2019s <strong>Pawel Uryniuk<\/strong> in the 100 fly. <strong>Michael Laitarovsky<\/strong> also picked up a win, in the 100 back, in the front half of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina got the better of both diving events. <strong>Manny Vazquez Bas<\/strong> and <strong>Charley Bayer<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 3-meter event, after Bayer had won 1-meter with Vazquez Bas third.<\/p>\n<p>LSU was led, as usual, by <strong>Brooks Curry.<\/strong> The American Olympian won 50 free in 19.45 and the 100 free in 43.25, the latter a 1-2 with <strong>Andrew Garon.<\/strong> Curry split 42.54 on the second leg of the Tigers\u2019 winning 400 free relay and 19.33 as the Tigers\u2019 200 medley relay finished second by .11 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitch Mason<\/strong> swept the breaststroke events.
