\nSwimming World and the International Swimming Hall of Fame reached an exciting milestone by announcing an official partnership with two-time Australian Olympian Brett Hawke and his highly successful podcast, \u201cInside with Brett Hawke.\u201d This partnership will elevate the exposure of the Swimming World\/ISHOF brand and Hawke\u2019s podcast, while enhancing the spotlight on the athletes who are the centerpiece of the sport.<\/p>\n

009<\/span> AHMED HAFNAOUI RULED INELIGIBLE FOR NCAA SEASON; WILL NOT COMPETE AT INDIANA UNTIL FALL 2023<\/span><\/strong>

\nTunisia\u2019s Ahmed Hafnaoui, who won the men\u2019s 400 freestyle from Lane 8 at the Tokyo Olympics, announced soon after that he would compete for Indiana University beginning with the 2022-23 season. However, IU head coach Ray Looze reported that Hafnaoui is not eligible to compete this season for academic reasons, but expects him to compete beginning in the fall of 2023.<\/p>\n

010 <\/span>AFTER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS DOMINATION, LEON MARCHAND SET FOR SUN DEVIL SOPHOMORE SPOTLIGHT<\/span><\/strong>

\nThe brilliance that ASU\u2019s Leon Marchand has produced over the last 12 months has placed him in the spotlight as a potential face of the 2024 Olympics in Paris for the home nation. For now, all eyes will be on the clock for Marchand\u2019s collegiate results. Such is the price of success that Americans Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Murphy and Bobby Finke all experienced in recent years in their post-international-breakthrough returns to college swimming.<\/p>\n

012<\/span> ADAM PEATY TO COMPETE AT WORLD SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN DECEMBER<\/span><\/strong>

\nHampered by a foot injury and lack of competition this summer, Adam Peaty is now preparing for the World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia, Dec. 13-18. It will mark the first short course Worlds for Peaty since Doha 2014, where he won three silver medals.<\/p>\n

014<\/span> A LOOK AT HOW NIL HAS IMPACTED COLLEGE SWIMMING<\/span><\/strong>

\nName, Image and Likeness (NIL) has brought significant changes to the NCAA in all sports. It is more commonly looked at in the sports of football and basketball, but it has also brought significance to the realm of college swimming. Through NIL, athletes are able to partner with brands to help market themselves, which under previous NCAA rules was not allowed.<\/p>\n

\nKatie Ledecky recently received the Community Hero of 2022 award at the Athletes for Hope\u2014Play for Good ceremony, held at The St. James sports complex in Springfield, Va. Athletes For Hope is an organization founded in 2006 by a group of athletes who all share a common bond: a deep commitment to helping others.<\/p>\n

021<\/span> MATT GREVERS INDUCTED INTO CHICAGOLAND SPORTS HALL OF FAME<\/span><\/strong>

\nFour-time Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers was recently inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. Grevers grew up in Lake Forest, Ill., and swam at Northwestern University just outside Chicago.<\/p>\n
