Sources told <em>Swimming World<\/em>\u00a0that <strong>Steve Jungbluth<\/strong>, who spent 12 full seasons as part of the Gators coaching staff, has departed from the program. As of Thursday evening, Jungbluth&#8217;s name was no longer listed among Florida&#8217;s coaching staff, and on Friday morning, Florida confirmed the move.<\/p>\n<p>A representative for the university provided a statement on behalf of head coach <strong>Anthony Nesty<\/strong>: &#8220;We have decided to part ways with Associate Head Coach Stephen Jungbluth. We wish him well on his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jungbluth first joined the Florida coaching staff in 2010 after a seven-season stint as head coach at Colgate University. Jungbluth was an assistant coach on\u00a0<strong>Gregg Troy&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>staff for eight seasons, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/steve-jungbluth-appointed-associate-head-coach-for-florida-gators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he was elevated to men&#8217;s associate head coach in 2018<\/a> when Troy retired and Nesty became head coach of the men&#8217;s team. In 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/anthony-nesty-to-coach-florida-women-after-jeff-poppells-departure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s swimming and diving programs were combined<\/a> when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jeff-poppell-to-take-over-as-head-coach-at-south-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">women&#8217;s coach\u00a0<strong>Jeff Poppell<\/strong> left Gainesville to become head coach at the University of South Carolina<\/a>, and Jungbluth and <strong>Whitney Hite <\/strong>became associate head coaches for both programs under Nesty.<\/p>\n<p>During his time at Florida, Jungbluth worked primarily with the sprint groups, which included multi-time Olympic gold medalist <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> during Dressel&#8217;s college days and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/caeleb-dressel-plenty-left-in-the-tank-after-first-two-wins-in-greensboro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">again over the last year<\/a>. Florida&#8217;s men have been consistently successful at the NCAA level, and <a href=\"https:\/\/floridagators.com\/sports\/mens-swimming-and-diving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Gators<\/a> were third at the 2022 men&#8217;s championships after posting a victory in the 200 medley relay to open the meet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steve Jungbluth Fired as University of Florida Associate Head Coach A longtime member of the swim coaching staff at the University of Florida is no longer with the program.
