RIVERSIDE, Calif., March 15. THE No. 19 Arizona State water polo team had too many factors mount against them Saturday afternoon as they went through two overtime periods and came out on the short end of 7-6 decision to Cal Baptist in its fourth and final game at the Lancer Invitational in Riverside, Calif. <\/p>\n
With a constant downpour hitting the outdoor venue, the Sun Devils staged a valiant comeback after a 4-2 deficit, but fell in the end seeing their six game winning streak snapped and fall to 12-8 overall on the year.<\/p>\n
The Lancers took the upper hand in the home pool by notching four goals in the first stanza while only allowing two to the visitors. The Sun Devils cut their deficit to one goal with a score in the second period. After trailing 4-3 at the half, ASU tied the game at
\nsix with a pair in the third period compared to one goal for CBU.<\/p>\n
Tessa Wyborny (Fr., Walnut Creek, Calif.) gave the Sun Devils a chance to win with her goal in the fourth quarter as 1:10 showed on the game clock. In the extra session, however, ASU could not capitalize while allowing one goal and dropped the contest, 7-6.<\/p>\n
Offensively, Wyborny and Gili Kollan (So., Kiriat Bialik, Israel) each scored twice in the contest with Katie Davis (Jr., Riverside, Calif.) and Daya Mau (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) adding a solo score. For
\nKollan, her scoring streak of seven games was extended to eight.<\/p>\n
