{"id":513407,"date":"2022-09-23T13:52:06","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T20:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=513407"},"modified":"2022-09-23T13:52:06","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T20:52:06","slug":"boston-college-adds-brian-keane-as-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/boston-college-adds-brian-keane-as-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston College Adds Brian Keane as Assistant Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Boston College Adds Brian Keane as Assistant Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brian Keane<\/strong> has been hired to the coaching staff of Boston College swimming and diving coach<strong> Joe Brinkman,<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/news\/2022\/9\/22\/brian-keane-named-assistant-swimming-diving-coach.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the school announced Thursday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Keane will serve as an assistant for both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams.<\/p>\n<p>He spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Bryant University, leading the women\u2019s team to a pair of Northeastern Conference titles. He also helped the men\u2019s team, which joined the NEC in 2022, to win a conference title in its first year. Bryant had four individual conference champions and set 10 school records in the last two seasons with Keane on staff.<\/p>\n<p>Keane swam at University of Maryland, Baltimore County from 2010-14. A former team captain, he helped guide the Retrievers to America East Conference Championships in 2011 and 2013. He remained with UMBC the year after his graduation as a volunteer assistant coach, helping the women\u2019s team win an American East title in 2015 and the men\u2019s team claim the CCSA Championship.<\/p>\n<p>After UMBC, Kean went to Babson College for two seasons as an assistant coach. His swimmers broke 21 Babson records and won the 2019 NEWMAC Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Brinkman, a former Notre Dame assistant coach, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/boston-college-hires-joe-brinkman-as-head-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hired just last month to take over the Eagles<\/a>. The late hiring owes to his predecessor <strong>Michael Stephens<\/strong> leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-stephens-leaves-boston-college-to-take-top-job-at-hawaii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to take the same position at the
