Sharron Davies To Co-Author Book With Craig Lord On the Fight For Women’s Sports<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former British star and 1980 Olympic medalist Sharron Davies<\/strong>, a longtime advocate for women in sports, will co-author a new book next year with sports journalist Craig Lord<\/strong>. The title, Unfair Play: The Battle For Women\u2019s Sports<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, will examine topics such as the transgender-participation debate, sexism and misogyny. The book is scheduled to be released in April 2023.<\/p>\n

A swimming star for Great Britain, Davies has long fought for equality in women\u2019s sports. Most recently, she has been a leading voice during the debate concerning transgender athletes competing in women\u2019s sports. Davies has spoken out about the inherent physical advantages held by transgender women who went through male puberty, and how women have been robbed of a fair playing field.<\/p>\n

At the 1980 Olympic Games<\/a> in Moscow, Davies was the silver medalist in the 400-meter individual medley. In that event, she was defeated by East Germany\u2019s Petra Schneider<\/strong>, who was later confirmed to have been part of her country\u2019s systematic-doping program. In 1978, Davies was the gold medalist in the 200 medley and 400 medley at the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

Like Davies, State of Swimming’s Lord brings sterling credentials to the upcoming title.
