FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 13. A future Cal swimmer and a three-time Olympian shined on the second night of finals at the Speedo Sectionals in Federal Way, Washington.<\/p>\n
In the women’s 100 free, Kamehameha’s Jasmine Mau, who is committed to swim at UC-Berkeley, clocked in at 49.34 for first. Scottsdale Aquatic’s Victoria Toris hit the wall in 49.99 for second, just ahead of Mount Hood’s Jamie Stone (50.04).<\/p>\n
Mau won her second event of the night in the 200 fly, posting a 1:57.61 for first. Fort Collins’ Bailey Nero shaved a second off her personal best to take second place with a time of 1:58.84. Erin Metzger-Seymour, a future Mizzou Tiger currently swimming at Jeffco Hurricanes, placed third with a 1:59.73.<\/p>\n
South African Olympic medalist Roland Schoeman, representing Phoenix, proved he can still hang with the kids, winning the 100 free with a 42.51. Fifteen-year old Ryan Hoffer of Scottsdale Aquatic took second with a 43.99. Bellvue’s Edward Kim, who is committed to swim at Harvard, and King Aquatic’s Thomas Anderson both posted a 44.42 to tie for third.<\/p>\n
Emma Schanz of Spokane Waves won the 200 breast with a 2:11.91. Fort Collins’ Bailey Kovac took second with a 2:12.60, just 0.15 more than the personal best she set in prelims. King Aquatic’s Carolyn McCann, a future Michigan Wolverine, posted a 2:14.58 for third.<\/p>\n
Aces’ John Bushman, who swam at Wisconsin, posted a personal best of 1:56.34 to win the men’s 200 breast. Arizona Marlins’ Matthew Anderson put up a 1:57.45, his first time under the two minute mark, for second. Thomas Brewer of Current Swimming took third with a time of 1:59.22.<\/p>\n
Hannah Leach of Missoula Aquatic dominated the women’s 200 back, with her winning time of 1:54.31 more than four seconds off her personal best. Tualatin Hills’ Cassidy Brennan also posted a personal best with her second place time of 1:57.36. Fourteen-year old Rhyan White of Wasatch Front Fish Market shaved more than a second off her personal best and hit the wall third at 1:57.36.<\/p>\n
Tualatin Hills’ Patrick Mulcare won the men’s 200 back with a new personal best, clocking in at 1:42.99. Anton Loncar of Hillsboro Heat, a future Denver Pioneer, posted a personal best of 1:46.33 for second. Bryce Kananowicz, a future South Carolina Gamecock currently swimming unattached, took third with a 1:46.71.<\/p>\n
King Aquatic’s Mathias Oh closed out the second night of competition with a personal best of 1:45.08 to win the men’s 200 fly. Arizona Gold’s Mark Jurek touched in 1:45.79 for second and a new personal best. Cascade’s Abrahm DeVine clocked in with a personal best of 1:46.28 for third.<\/p>\n
