U.S. Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.) will be an honorary co-chairman at the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association Gala event, which runs from 7-11 p.m. CT on Saturday at Fields BMW in Northfield, Ill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very humbling when I was asked to be an honorary chair for GLASA\u2019s gala red carpet event. The number of lives they\u2019ve touched is incredible, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a wonderful cause.\u201d<br \/>\nThroughout the evening, Grevers will share how he got into swimming along with the importance of GLASA. The six-time Olympic medalist will also sign autographs and pose for pictures.<\/p>\n<p>Serving alongside Grevers as co-chairman is U.S. Paralympian Alyssa Gialamas. Gialamas is a member of the Paralympic National Swim Team and is a 12-time American record holder. Both Grevers and Gialamas grew up in the Chicago-land area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association is so excited to have Matt and Alyssa as the honorary co-chairs for the GLASA Gala,\u201d said GLASA Executive Director and Founder Cindy Housner. \u201cWe are so honored to have both Matt and Alyssa supporting GLASA and our mission as they truly exemplify our motto of Let No One Sit on the Sidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Grevers\u2019 appearance at GLASA Gala is part of USA Swimming\u2019s Athlete Partnership Program. The program is a platform for National Team swimmer to encourage kids and adults to take up the sport as a healthy and positive activity. These appearances directly promote the sport and the healthy lifestyle it represents.
