In this latest edition, several top athletes share the best piece of advice they ever received from a coach.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KELSI DAHLIA<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2016 Olympic Gold Medalist<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Women\u2019s 4&#215;100 Medley Relay<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Notre Dame Associate Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The best advice I received from a coach was from (Louisville coach) <a href=\"https:\/\/gocards.com\/staff-directory\/arthur-albiero\/241\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthur (Albiero)<\/a> leading into 2016. I started having new and exciting sponsorship and appearance opportunities, and he advised me I need to learn how to say \u201cNo\u201d to some things. My personality is to please other people by saying \u201cYes\u201d to everything, but I had to reframe that thought process.<\/p>\n<p>Every \u201cNo\u201d became a \u201cYes\u201d to something else in my life. For example, if I traveled to a clinic one weekend, I was saying \u201cNo\u201d to time with my husband or time training. While I still have a lot to learn in this area, this advice gave me permission to say \u201cYes\u201d to only the things I found most important.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KAITLYN DOBLER<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2022 NCAA Champion<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Women\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My club coach told me that 30 years from now, you won\u2019t remember the times you go or the cuts you make, but you will remember all the memories you make with your teammates. You don\u2019t have to worry about your times, but make sure you\u2019re enjoying the experiences you have with your teammates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NIC FINK<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2022 World Champion<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Men\u2019s 50 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t win a race in the first 25, but you can lose a race in the first 25.\u201d \u2014Jack Bauerle<\/p>\n<p><strong>RYAN MURPHY<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2022 World Champion<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-ryan-murphy-claims-200-back-world-title-for-first-time-greenbank-casas-on-rostrum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Backstroke<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My advice was said to me when I was 4 years old. At that age, I made an excuse to get out of every practice. My mom didn\u2019t mind because I would sit with her instead of practicing. The coaches knew I was very competitive, so Coach Andr\u00e9 told me, \u201cYou\u2019re not going to be able to win if you don\u2019t practice.\u201d Tough to disagree with that one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RHYAN WHITE<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2022 World Champion<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>4&#215;100 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The best advice I\u2019ve received was from my coach here at Bama (Ozzie Quevedo).
