{"id":512576,"date":"2022-09-01T08:50:49","date_gmt":"2022-09-01T15:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=512576"},"modified":"2022-09-15T15:16:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T22:16:53","slug":"asca-establishes-legal-consulting-benefit-for-coaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/asca-establishes-legal-consulting-benefit-for-coaches\/","title":{"rendered":"ASCA Establishes Legal Consulting Benefit for Coaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) announced it has established an important new benefit for its members that provides initial legal consultations for any SafeSport matter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ASCA has retained Global Sports Advocates (GSA), a sports law firm with broad experience handling SafeSport issues, to provide its members with this legal consultation benefit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>GSA&#8217;s Founding Partner Paul Greene was recognized in 2022 as one of the world&#8217;s leading sports lawyers by Chambers and Partners and Who&#8217;s Who Legal, and GSA attorney Matthew Kaiser was recognized in 2022 as an &#8220;Associate to Watch&#8221; for Sports Law by\u00a0Chambers and Partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cEducation and access to a resource that can apprise each member of their rights is a critical step forward,\u201d said ASCA CEO Jennifer LaMont.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe are proud to be supporting our member coaches by providing this benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;The landscape for coaches today, including new mandatory SafeSport reporting requirements, is fast-changing and can be daunting&#8221;, said Paul J. Greene, Founding Partner of Global Sports Advocates, \u201cwe hope to help coaches navigate the SafeSport landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This member benefit will provide a coach with an initial legal consultation regarding a SafeSport matter.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If a coach then decides it is necessary to engage their own attorney, they would engage an attorney of their choosing at their own expense. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cASCA continues to improve and enhance our offerings to support coaches.
