In our last poll, we wanted to know: <b>Which world record set by a male swimmer this summer was most impressive?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In April, Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zac Stubblety-Cook<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/breaking-australias-zac-stubblety-cook-smashes-world-record-in-the-200m-breaststroke-in-205-95\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">became the first man to ever break 2:06 in the 200 breaststroke when he recorded a time of 2:05.95 at Australia&#8217;s national championships<\/a>. Stubblety-Cook went on to win a world title and Commonwealth Games gold in the event to add to the Olympic crown he won last year.<\/p>\n<p>At the World Championships, a pair of world records went down. First, Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Ceccon<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-thomas-ceccon-crushes-world-record-to-claim-100-back-world-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">knocked a quarter-second off\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy&#8217;s<\/strong> world record in the 100 backstroke with his time of 51.60<\/a>, and one day later,\u00a0<strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-kristof-milak-thrills-duna-arena-with-200-fly-gold-lowers-world-record-to-150-34\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thrilled the home crowd in Hungary as he lowered his own world record in the 200 butterfly<\/a>, although he narrowly missed becoming the first man ever under 1:50 in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, 17-year-old\u00a0<strong>David Popovici<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/flash-david-popovici-sets-100-free-world-record-of-46-86\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beat\u00a0<strong>Cesar Cielo&#8217;s<\/strong> 13-year-old world record in the 100 freestyle at the European Championships<\/a>.
