THE Century High School Patriots successfully defended their title at the North Dakota Boys High School Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet was held March 7-8 in Grand Forks at the Hyslop Sports Center on the campus of the University of North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Century&#8217;s 349 points put them just ahead of the Minot Magicians (323). Fargo North took third (297), with West Fargo fourth (253) and Fargo South fifth (235).<\/p>\n<p>Century was led by state record-setter Loren Sether. The junior lowered the 200 IM mark to 1:54.58, blasting the prior mark of 1:56.67 set initially by Matt Bonzer in 2003 and tied by Ian Ballantyne in 2011. Setner missed a second title by 5-hundredths, losing in the 100 fly to Fargo North senior Tanner Bjorlie, 52.13 to 52.18.<\/p>\n<p>Sether also led off both of Century&#8217;s victorious relays. Sether, junior Logan Stucki, sophomore Quentin Hogue and senior Zach Grosz combined for a 1:27.11 in the 200 free relay. Sophomore Taylor Hedge joined Sether, Stucki and Grosz for a 3:13.43 in the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Minot senior Ethan Bull took down another of Ballantyne&#8217;s 2011 records in the 100 breast of 58.02 with his 57.01.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Kovich, a Minot junior, cruised to a winning 21.40 in the 50 free. He also held off Fargo South senior Alex Brock (47.23) and Century&#8217;s Grosz (47.34) with his 47.17 for the 100 free title.<\/p>\n<p>Fargo South claimed the 200 medley relay in 1:38.80 with the squad of Connor Bjellum (sophomore), Beau Anderson (senior), Andrew Hollingsworth (senior) and Alex Brock (senior). Brock topped the field in the 200 free (1:42.92) and Bjellum&#8217;s 53.80 gave him the triumph in the 100 back.<\/p>\n<p>The 500 free champion was Bismarck senior Austin Teunisse with his 4:48.49.
